Does the lights blink (momentarily) when you start up the laptop?

If it at least blinks at start up, then you can try the following:

    1. Check MS config to see if ATK hotkey is being loaded (on the startup tab), if not, enable it and reboot.

If that doesn't work, you can try the following:

    1. Download the latest ATK package from Asus's website
    2. Uninstall the existing ATK package from Control Panel.
    3. Install the new ATK package and reboot.

    Goodluck!

Super common issue sadly. Usually happens when you flash the bios using the winflash option with the KB lights on. Only way I am aware of fixing it currently is sending it in to Asus. They apparently have some program to to flash the KB firmware that they will not release to the public.

Far as im aware replacing the keyboard does not fix this issue purely SW/FW related.

Did you try pressing the topleft button above the capslock icon?
