I have this issue in which my monitor sometimes would start to flicker every now and then, between start ups. It began 2-3 weeks ago.

I don't think its video related as it flickers all the way from BIOS to watching movies and playing games, all in the same way, not worsening or lessening.
It stopped last weekend and started again Wednesday. I have NO idea what is causing the flickering in any way.
I tested a secondary monitor using the VGA port on the side of my laptop and there was no flickering.
I found a way to stop it "Visually" by turning brightness to max, but that doesn't mean its not technically happening. For me it isn't it fix as i always lower the brightness because max is too much for my eyes
I read somewhere on the net that maybe it is caused by a lose circuit near the hinge or something like that...
I also found the dissemblance guide... but i don't have the tool to pry the hinge cover off, so i'm scared i would damage it.

I hope there is a solution to this.. other than "RMAing" (?) :(

EDIT: I uploaded a vid on youtube showing the flickering on my laptop, then loading a game, afterward i connect the secondary monitor to compare. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDfMTTe4y8o

It could be a loose LVDS display cable, especially because on an external monitor you don't get this issue. I assume you've tried a monitor with at least the same resolution as the laptop's panel. But if you aren't able to open it there's not much point in worrying about it, just RMA it. You could use a medium-heavy thickness guitar pick instead of a prytool, or an old credit card or gift card (that you don't mind rendering useless if it bends), as long as you're careful. But if you're not at all comfortable disassembling laptops I wouldn't start with an in-warranty G73. :) Good luck!

    Thx for the reply!
I got good news and bad news. The good news is i discovered the problem, which is: i used to put a little book under my laptop just above the ventilator, under the battery. By doing this i assumed it gave more space to let more air ventilate inside... But i guess it wasn't smart to do that :confused2:

Im sure thats the cause, i pushed the same place with my knee and my laptop got a BSOD saying something about dumping memories (didn't read the whole info cause it happened fast)

So, no more books under my laptop, problem solved. The bad news: Still, i'm worried about that place inside, maybe a lose component...
