Hello people, im new and i need your help. Its kinda complicated in my view so please bare with me, ill try to describe as good as i can.

Bought a swedish version of the G73 a few weeks ago.
    (Asus G73JH-TY171V)

Been working pretty good apart from a few lockups in Starcraft2 which probably more are the game instead of the laptops fault.

Im having some trouble with green artifacts appearing on screen on several occasions. I have only really played Starcraft2 and watched some movies on it so thats what im refering to.

Anyway, here are 3 screenshots. The first 2 are from movies and the last SC2. I hope you guys notice the green artifacts all over the screen.
You will see them if you watch closely. The pictures are compressed abit so they are much more visable in reality.

I went to a swedish forum to ask for advice. The first thing that came up was to uninstall Asus Splendid, some sort of graphic enchancer.
So i did it, and you know what, they were gone!
Fatantastic, i though the problem was solved. Well frankly they were to a big extent. Movies were normal again and i didnt find any atifacts anymore in SC2, for the time being.

Today, this appears. Here are 2 "lookalike" screenshots from SC2.
#1 got artifacts while #2 dont, so whats the difference?

    #1 - http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/2729/screenshot2010081718194.jpg
    #2 - http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/1315/screen6ua.jpg

Frankly, its funny and annoying at the same time.
The #1 is from my SC2 screenshot folder that gets automaticly generated whenever i press print screen ingame. (Prt Sc)
As you can see, it got artifacts for some reason, cause they dont appear ingame. Why on earth are they on the screenshot?

The #2 one is me pressing Prt Sc yet again, but this time copy+paste it into paint, and the screenshot is normal!

Sadly, before posting this thread i noticed a place in SC2 where the artifacts appeared again, which is in the screenshot below.
If you watch closely you can see the artifacts near the buttom of the screen. Frankly this is the only place so faar in sc2 where i have noticed them, apart from the screwed up screenshots.

Im confused, to say the least. Do you guys have any idea of what this is?
Cause i am absolutly clueless. To point out im using the orginal drivers that the computer game with, havent touched anything. Ok i admit i did try cataclyst 10.7. But after reading that the comp had general problems with Ati drivers i reverted back to orginal Asus one from the disc.
Apart from that i have just uninstalled some junk. Like games, antivirus and a few non-asus programs that i knew i didnt need.

Thats a known problem in the older drivers (like the stock ones) reffered to as green graphics corruption in the release notes. Newer drivers should fix this, but than you do have a chance to get GSODs instead...
    Pick your poison.
To me it usually happens with the mouse cursor.. that also got fixed in the newer drivers, but i cant use those becouse of GSODs (unless i use the MSI/Clevo vBios but i need HDMI and VGA to work)...

I don't get why you would post help on this here? Why wouldn't you post on a Starcraft or Gaming forum? Anything that happens on your G73 becomes a G73 problem and not the actual game?

    Pffft, whatever.

Does it bother you that hes posting it here?
His problem is one with the G73JH - since it cant handle newer drivers (or at least hes afraid of that becouse of the reports of GSODs) which would solve the corruption problems so id say his post is in the right section.

Thanks for the reply. And your completly correct, ive read abit about GSOD and such and didnt want to take a chance with newer drivers. I suppose you use the orginal drivers also then?

Yes it does. It's the wrong forum and it's clutter. This isn't a G73 issue, it's an issue with Blizzard's lack of communication with ATi.

So much of all this GSOD is just plain speculation, very little proof so far. And the drivers are well, the most speculative to me so far.

Reviving this thread abit. Seeing as you post this as a blizzard issue for some reason, even when i post screens from movies.

    Today i updated Bios from 209 -> 211 and drivers to 10.8.
Kinda wanted to experience the GSOD before i decided to play around with the new vBios.

Been playing Lord of the Rings Online for a few hours without any issues so faar. Except... the artifacts are still here.

    Screen: http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/3269/screenshot00003l.jpg

I get the same when watching a live stream today of sc2, so its clearly not only a game issue.

Neither a issue with old drivers it seems since i got 10.8.
Can the new vBios fix it maybe?

The stock vBios does not function well with the new reference drivers from AMD/ATI. Only the stock 9.12 and 10.1 work with them..

That's one of its functions. To be able to use the new reference drivers stably.

Thanks for the answers. Ill get on that tomorrow.

Should i reinstall a "fresh" 10.8 when vBios is updated or just let it be?
