Hello, I have owned my G73JH for a little over a year and the entire time I have owned it the trackpad has never functioned correctly. Around these forums I have seen people posting about removing tape underneath the trackpad as a solution. None of these people, however, seem to be posting how you actually get to the tape or anything resembling instructions.

Can someone please tell me how to actually perform this fix? The laptop is effectively useless without a properly functioning trackpad, and it is driving me a little batty at this point.

I am making a new thread as all the other threads seem to be impossible to peruse behemoths.

    Thanks.

Yup I had problems since day 1 tried everything and then finally I did what all others said and dissassmbled (as I normally do :p ) and removed the silver film that is stuck to the touchpad base along with the silver tape holding it down.

It practically peels off you need to be gentle with it because the touchpad button tape lies right underneith it. Remove it entirely! It appears other's beliefs that it causes static problems leading to sticking, zooming irratically etc does sing true, its been 7 days of bliss problem free touchpad usage and it has definetely fixed it for me :)

Dissassmbly guide in my sig if needed.

So can I assume that to get to the tape requires a complete disassembly?
