I just installed WOW on my CPU couple days ago. During the download the cpu would freeze and I would have to hold the power button.

When I start the game my whole CPU lags and sometime freezes. I can make it to a full load screen then the game freezes.

After I exit the game and close all apps my whole cpu lags bady takes about 15min to shutdown.

This was not happening before I installed it.

    Any suggestions?
    Reformat?

There are a lot of folks around here running WoW on the G73 including me. There are no known issues/conflicts with the installer. It sounds like you've got some malware on your machine. If it were mine, I would wipe and start over, but I have twenty-five years of experience in this field. I would call a rebuild non-trivial if you are doing a "clean install". If you have factory restore disks, a monkey could do it. There's a great guide here in the forums for doing a clean install if you feel like giving it a go. If it doesn't work out, you can always do a factory restore as long as you don't delete the 20GB hidden partition on the first drive.

I hope that helps. If you get part way through a rebuild and get stuck, post back and we'll try to help you.
