Hello everyone, I'm newly registered but have used these forums as reference for many problems in the past. This issue, however, is one I cant find a solution to anywhere unless I want to replace my entire keyboard.

Randomly while playing an MMO this evening my spacebar began to stick. The button itself popped up normally but it was acting as though it was being held down. Tried using a USB keyboard and it did not have any issues. Tried using linux and still had the issue. This led me to believe it was not a software issue and a problem with the actual button.

Cleaning underneath the button was fairly easy, but the problem remains. I have not removed the rubber cup under the button completely, but its attached to a bit of plastic that has some give to it and if i pull that up and use a toothpick to press the spot under the rubber cup directly I still have the issue. My husband is semi-knowledgeable but has never encountered this before. He says it seems to be an issue with the circuit, and if thats the case I may need a new keyboard.

Any suggestions? It actually isnt pressed constantly, but rather when pressed goes one space normally and then maybe about 30 spaces rapidly, then stops.

I'm having to type this using ctrl+v for all spaces, lol.

I think you'll have to dismantle the whole keyboard to check what's below that rubber cap on the space bar key. Maybe some gunk accumulation got there or something. Worst case is you'll just have to buy a new replacement keyboard from ASUS eStore, Asus parts or eBay. I never dismantled my keyboard so far as I always cover it with a silicon keyboard protector which prevents all sorts of dirt getting inside it so I don't know how it looks like inside.

You could also check NotebookReview's Computer Components section if someone is selling a second hand G73JH keyboard or just post in there that you would are buying one.
