Hello All
After seeking your help concerning the many G73 issues of the past, I'm back with a fresh problem. I live in an older apartment building and thus wireless is a bit of an issue for me here. Because of this, I use an ethernet cable to connect to my router. On this router, there are numerous other devices connected at any given time (xbox360s, PCs, iPhones, etc.) both wired and wirelessly. However, my G73 appears to be the only one that experiences connection drops. This is most prevalent while engaging in multiplayer gaming, although it does occur occasionally when surfing the web (albeit less frequently).
What happens: I will be playing a game, and the connection will drop (the network icon in the taskbar will appear with a little yellow triangle and "!" inside it). Sometimes this will last long enough to boot me from the game altogether and other times this will only cause me to lag for a while mid-game. Connection is usually reestablished within a minute or two.
Things I've Tried: Various easy fixes, from disabling my WLAN, unplugging all other devices from the router, changing ethernet cables and ports, manually setting up an IP address, subnet mask, etc.
Basically, I've tried numerous fixes, none of which seem to have any effect and once again, these connection errors do not occur on my other devices.
Also, I know that this is not game-specific as it has occurred while playing L4D2, Brink and TF2. The only unifying factor would be that they are all through the Steam Network. However, I have had no trouble when playing elsewhere (i.e. when I am playing wirelessly on another network)
Any thoughts? Has anyone else experiences a similar issue? I haven't really noticed this problem before as I haven't done a lot of multiplayer gaming on my G73, mostly single player. However, a few friends and I just picked up Brink and I would love to play it without these annoyances, if possible.
Thanks!

does this happen in other operating systems? Diff ethernet drivers? Clean win install?
Frankly, you tried diff ports/cables. If its not drivers/OS. You're likely looking at a issue w/ the physical port failing, rma time?
Does this happen torrenting? downloading files or heavy multi-media streaming? -
Yup. Had the same problem. ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download
Go there and download the latest wireless drivers. Helped a bunch for me. I'd get drops during L4D2 all the time before this. -

In terms of when it happens, it happens during gaming and also I have noticed it during large downloads as well. I don't torrent with this computer.
Ok, I had to roll back the drivers to whatever version it was that ASUS had on their site. So far, that seems to have done the trick. I'm going to attempt a longer gaming session and see what happens. But thanks for the advice!
Once again, the people of notebookreviews.com save the day.
