hello cdoublejj from what i know the fastest cpu to fit in the g73jh is the i7 940xm but i went for the i7 840qm because i thought the 940xm cost to much. you cant put in any latter CPU that that as thay will not fuction with the motherboard and i think the pin out is diffrent.
GPU i have at the moment is the clevo 7970m but i dont see why you cant put in the latest cards if you wish as long as it is a AMD card that is mxm 3b and has the right vbios in genrol i have found clevo cards to be more compatable with the asus g73jh as dell cards have max fan speed issue's there is a guy that has put nvida cards in the g73jh and made it to work but it is complcated unless you know how to edit bios and vbios. id just stick to AMD cards
and as for the ram well i have corsair vengence 1866 i only have 16gb 4x4Gb you can go higher but im happy with what i have now. I have only seen 4 slot versions of the asus g73 motherboard.

Depends how good you are at shopping and tweaking.

For about £200 I have built machines that stomp all over £800 machines before.

I just mean if he wants to get a 920xm plus a 7970m, then the price is already fairly high. Add the required cooler customization and maybe calculate the several hours of work needed for everything, it just gets expensive.

Hello cdoublejj! As far as I know, each of the four RAM slots of the G73JH can only handle up to 4GB of stick.

2 should be dual with one in single channel.

and the 4th ram slot is on the back of the motherbord id just go on to ebay or werever you shop and but another stick of ram . one thing you will find if you only use 1,2 or 3 sticks of ram is youneed to use certain ram slots as i know from experence if you put them in the wrong slots it will not boot or it will boot then freezz at the windows screen try it you will see what i meen.

what is the ballpark price (USD) on a clevo HD7970m? is there a thread for the modded bios and vbios for nvidia cards? has any one dropped in a gtx780 or gtx880 yet?

is there any performance gain by upgrading or overclocking the cpu?

Fill the first two physical (1/3 logical) and then try the other stick in logical slot 2 and then slot 4.
