    Hello.

Im the happy owner of the Asus G73jh

is there any performance gain in upgrading the ATI catalyst drivers from the stock to the newest.

Also im running bios 206, is it worth trying to flash to 209 (im only having the fn + esc problem until now).

Last someone said that the sound cloud get better if you deleted some drivers?

    Best regards.

    Kåre

You may or may not have GSOD issues after updating the display drivers.

You may or may not brick your laptop updating the BIOS.

You may or may not like gimmicky Creative software.

Only you can decide what's best for you. Fortunately for you, there are plenty of threads on these topics that can help you make an informed decision.

I am a gamer and not a benchmarker, So I can only comment on the overall feel of the machine. My G73 has worked well for me on stock drivers and BIOS (205) after removing bloatware and not using the Creative software. I updated the BIOS to 209 to address the fn + esc and low battery throttling issues. All good. I have also updated to the 10.5 CCC drivers. My machine was stable before and after the update. I notice no huge difference (maybe a little better, maybe all in my head) in games like Dirt 2 and GTA IV. I researched and followed guides found in these forums for my updates.
Thanks to Kalim, StubbornSwiss, Chastity, and many others for all the great info that can be found in these threads.

    Hello Kalim.

    Thx for you reply.

Im used to nvidia cards where there is a lot of info about what the new drivers corrects or tweaks.

Im having a had time finding Asus's official bios changelog, anyone found that yet?

I can't really hear the bass, is that an issue with the software or is that normal?

Most likely normals. Laptop subwoofers are really not all that good. They are more of a sound equalizer, and they don't even do a good job of that.

It's quite likely that you won't.
