    Hi all,

I have a ASUS G73JH-A1 that has stopped booting. I have emailed the people I bought it from but in the meantime I wonder if you have any thoughts.

It hardly gets used to be honest, but in the last day or so it stopped booting. When I turn the power on the HDD light flashed for a moment then nothing. Just the Blue bulb light stays on.

I also noticed that the rear Right fan (as you look at the laptop) is not blowing.

    Any ideas?

    Hi there,

Do you get any picture on screen? If so what shows up?

I wouldn't worry to much about the right fan not blowing straight away because the GPU will be cold to start with but it might mean the GPU is not working which could be your problem. To rule it out first thing you need to do is to connect it to an external display either by VGA or HDMI and boot again.

If that does not work then it points to GPU, otherwise it points to screen. Have you recently flashed your Vbios? Updated any drivers?

    Hi mate.

No, I do not get a picture on the screen. No sound comming thorugh the speakers, and I tried it plugged into a monitor. Nothing.

No BIOS flashed or anything. It hardly gets used.

Will do, will give that a go tonight when I get home. Thanks

No change, although I did notice the HDD flicker a few times. Sometimes when i turn it on it just switches straight off. Other times it just stays with a blank screen with all the blue lights on.

Hopefully this may prove useful to someone, so I will update with the resolution.

They sent a courier to pick my Laptop up (FREE) then had it less than a week and returned it (FREE)

They ended up replacing the following parts which failed:

Mainboard & VGA PCB (Not sure what the latter is)

All working now :) In less than a week.

There is something very seriously wrong with this G73JH series...

The exact same thing has happened two times for me within the last 8 months:

    Broken GPU and mainboard!

5 months left of the warranty, let´s see if I can break it a 3rd time..

    :(
