    Hello everyone,

I'm new in this forum and hoping to get your help! I tried to upgrade the ATI drivers with the original Bios like an idiot and screwed things up, started having crashes. Then I upgraded the Bios to 213, vBios and drivers up to date and that's when I started to have BSOD. When I started the laptop, there was only a black screen, no asus logo no nothing with only the blue lights on. Since my warranty was out of date, I took it to a random service where they managed to get it running and downgraded the Bios to 206, but they left the vBios and drivers upgraded. Now I have compatibility issues as I can't play any video games because either the fps is very very low or the laptop crashes and starts dumping.

I guess the best thing I can do is to go back to the original vBios and ATI drivers but I can't find out which ones they are. And I really dont want to reinstall windows. Can anyone tell me what is the original vBios version? thx in advance..

Yeap, that's what I used to upgrade. Everything was fine that night, played the new games that couldn't before (Sleeping Dogs) without any problem, then next morning got the BSOD and the tech guy told me not to upgrade BIOS but left the vBios and drivers up to date and that causes problems since the BIOS is 206 but vBios is 012.020.000.032. But now I cant find where to download the original vBios :( and I dont want to risk anything again by trying to upgrade again. Please help!

well what did your bsod say? it could be unrelated, i mean i have latest bios and chastity's od2 and haven't had a single bsod or any issues.

There was no error or anything. I read about people having the same problem after upgrading, maybe I couldnt clean the drivers well enough before upgrading but the tech guy said he ran tests with different versions of bios and the v206 was the only one that didnt crash. And I am in the process of writing my dissertation so I dont really care about upgrading anything anymore, I just want to be able to get things the way they were so that I can play Skyrim, WoW again without any problems like I did before upgrading.

Yes the procedure for downgrading is very similar - format a Flash drive to FAT 32 ( NOT NTFS) download the needed tool (ATI flash program). There are numerous links here that have more details, just follow this for instance : http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...5309-how-fix-your-gsod-blues.html#post6667252, but you will need to put the VBIOS file on the flash drive and change the name in the .bat file to match the VBIOS name ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...owners-vbios-update-guide-18.html#post6361083 ) In this case the name is bios.rom . If you have any doubts let us know you can brick your computer doing this.
Personally I would not downgrade the VBIOS, I would do a clean install of a recent version of the ATI drivers and get the BIOS back to 211 or 213; using the tool built into the BIOS (NOT winflash)

Sorry for being such a noob even though I have been devouring forums for this issue for a while now but do you mind explaining me step by step what to do for upgrading? What to do first? Do I first uninstall ATI drivers using driver sweeper and ccleaner (please specify your software preferences), and then get the bios back to 211 (probably), then reinstall the up to date ATI drivers again? And what do you mean by using the tool built into the BIOS not the winflash? Is this the method that you are suggesting?

Thanks in advance for your help! Hope with your help, I'll be able to get rid of this problem

DRevan's guide that you linked is exactly what I meant. I have followed this procedure to do the clean install : http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...lity-released-get-yours-here.html#post7163230 ... see How to Setup (thanks to steviejones133), but be sure the use the latest versions of all referenced software.
I would do the the ATI drivers first, if that solves it I would recommend leaving the BIOS at 206 (especially since v206 was the only one that didn't crash)

personally, I always had poblems with latest drivers and I were running chastity vBios:
I solved everything by flasing the new Hacked BIOS, and reverting to the original modded vBios (gary's one, without the overclock feature).

I have to say I had no more problems (gsod while playing cod, battlefield, and specially on battery), even If older drivers perform still slighty better than newer one, but at higher temperatures (I repeat this over each thread, and got usually ignored, but I never tire myself of smashing my head around saying the thrut)

    hope that helps

Thanks for your help guys, appreciate it. I'll try to re-install the ATI drivers and update BIOS to 211 (Gary's one) and see if that works. I haven't been able to dare doing it because I'm writing my dissertation at the moment and afraid of losing my G73 to the BSOD. I'll give your suggestions a try and let you know what happens. Cheers..

Sorry, didn't realize you mentioning reversing the vBios? Is it the same procedure as Gary's method or is there anything different? I guess I updated vBios using Chastity's version if I am not mistaken. It would be great if you could tell me what you did step by step. Thanks!
