Hey guys, I just ordered my ASUS G73JW-XB1 from xoticpc.com, and I'm pretty excited to say the least. I've had two fallout laptops from Alienware I returned, so I'm hoping ASUS gives me hope again for gaming laptops, and impresses me. Especially since xoticpc has had great reviews friom what I saw. Im an owner of the Sandy Bridge platform and im extremely pleased my the performance.
As i read core i first gen should still give you a nice performance on about everything you throw at it, not to mention that you can overclock both cpu and gpu for performance gain4free!
    Congrats :)

I think he's trying to say that you could look at a G73SW model, or a G74SX model. They have the newer Sandybridge CPUs which perform faster than the stock 740QM's in the G73JW.

Ahh, well the G74 is $1900, and the G73SW was out of stock. And, this one was on sale for $1085. So it seemed to be the best choice for me.

I think you will enjoy it. You can try the volt mod vBIOS that they're experimenting with to improve your OC. If you feel you need more CPU power, you can upgrade the CPU to a 920XM. If this interests you, then check with xoticpc what that would cost. It'd be easier to do it now since they still have it, and they will warranty it. (And make sure you either get your 740QM CPU since you are paying for it, or have them discount the 920XM upgrade price)

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the volt mod vBIOS. And as far as the CPU goes, 740QM should be satisfiable, right? Currently I'm into League of Legends, World of Warcraft, and CS:S. Which I should be able to easily max out and run 60+ fps, correct? They aren't too demanding. I'm sure I'll broaden my gaming list once I get this in. However, those are my main concerns now. What do you think? P.S, sorry for being a little dumb about the whole subject :p.

there's a vbios mod that bumps up the voltage to help push the overclocks

Congrats on the purchase man. You'll be stoked. I've had mine about 10 months and I wouldn't trade this baby for anything. I'm thinking of buying a 920xm soon, but we'll see...

Anyways, enjoy and let me know if I can help in any way.
