I'm looking for the hard drive bracket of an ASUS G73Jh.

Does anyone knows where can I find it? I need just one piece.

    ASUS doesn't have it. :(

Are you sure? I thought you could just order it from them.

Nah, it's not available from them till approximately September. You can try asusparts.eu if you're up to it. I have one on the way from them but no telling if it's the right part or anything. I decided to give it a go.

I've heard any of the G series hard drive brackets work. Someone took out one from their G50 for their G73 without any difficulty.

Dunno though. I haven't tried myself so I couldn't tell you first hand.

Only person I heard this from didn't post any pics and didn't answer any of my other questions regarding it. Until I see some pics I wouldn't put too much effort into geting ahold of one of those brackets.

I just looked at the G50 bracket and it looks the same as the G73 one, with the exception of the screw braces coming off the far end from the connector (which you could remove anyway.

Spacing's off on it I believe. Seriously though, give it a whirl if you're up for it. There are a lot of people wanting to figure out a solution to this.

Not true. I have a G72 and my son has my old G50VT. Neither bracket fits in the G73. I just use a bit of foam like the G50VT BB version came with in the second drive bay.

    Cheers,

Just got my caddy in from asusparts.eu which is currently (as far as I know) the only place to get them. Fits perfectly. What's funny is they order it from Asus and apparently Asus can't get it for you right now.

Thanks! I'm gonna try that store. Do you have the link for the bracket? I didn't find it there yet.

I ordered one last week myself. I have a feeling they'll quickly run out of stock as the G73 ownership pool grows larger and larger.

If acquiring a caddy is this difficult now, it'll be next to impossible to find one six months from now. If the availability of the G50, G71 brackets is any indication of the actual quantity of brackets that can be sold separately.

    Here is the link: http://www.asusparts.eu/product_info.php?cPath=67674_73347_158847_158848_158863&products_id=39949

No news on the shipping date yet though. I paid through PayPal.

Oh, thank you to aramis109 for the find. :)

OMG! They are charging 27.50€ (about US$ 37) -- shipping included. How much you paid?

    About that much. ;)

Overpriced? Yeah, but I wanted a secondary HD in mine, and that + a drive still put me about at the cost of an A2, added a BD drive and I'm about at the cost of the A1, and I've had mine for a couple months now. ;)

for those with G51 caddy's, if you no longer need it in your G51, it will work in the G73. Not a perfect fit, but does securely hold the drive in place with one screw just fine. After running my G51 with the hard drive secrued with foam for 4 months, this was a more than acceptable solution ha.

Just have to bend a couple tabs a bit, and good to go. Not ideal, but sure beats spending $37 and waiting a month or more if you do have one sitting around. I'm selling my G51 to help pay for the G73, so just snagged the second drive/bracket and dropped it right into the new G73.

Thirty seven dollars for that flimsy piece of metal? What a rip off.

Sure the price is steep as are all parts for consumer goods. Priced OEM car parts recently? I will not wait until September. Thanks for the link to ASUS EU. The caddy is on the way. Regards John Dozier
