I have been looking for a replacement battery for a G73j for a couple of weeks. Rather frustrating.

Amazon.com lists them, but since I am in Canada, they won't ship to me.

ASUS' eStore has been offline for "maintenance" for an extended period. Today, the web site no longer says it is being updated - it just gives a blank screen.

The store that sold the laptop did some checking, and told us that ASUS no longer supports this laptop, and does not sell batteries for it.

There are places online that seem to list batteries, but they are all third party items. Nobody anyplaces lists original ASUS batteries for this laptop.

OK, if we have to go to a third party battery, that is OK. A lot of the ones with what looks like a good price are actually not the same - they are 4400mAh or 4200mAh or lower units. The original is a 5200mAh unit.

I am hesitant to have one shipped from the USA to Canada, having paid unexpected and rather high duties and other costs in the past.

Of the retailers I have found in Canada that list a battery for the G73j, all seem to be fronts for businesses that are actually in the Far East. The ones I have checked seem to be shipping from Singapor or similar locations. That is fine, but my past experience with shipping from such locations is that the delivery time of 2 - 14 days exists only in someone's drug induced dram. Three to seven weeks is more realistic.

eBay is an alternative, but we like dealing with a retailer who can offer support, if possible.

What have others done when looking for a G73j battery?

    Thanks in advance!

P.S. - I have done some searches here, and not found an answer to my questions above. One discussion had a link, but the website did not list batteries for the G73j at all. If a solution has been described in an existing discussion, my apologies - a link to said discussion would be appreciated.

Have you tried a NCIX as your in bc, they are right down the street from you, sorta or maybe Memory Express could help you in alberta. ?

I know both places sell this notebook, I would be shocked if they can't help you get a new battery.

Hello rfielder, I just checked on Asus eStore for Taiwan and I can see that the G73 battery is still available in their site. While the Asus eStore for US is still under maintenance, I think it is not likely for this laptop model to have its battery replacement units phased out, considering its age of just around 2 years. If I remember correctly during my last visit on Asus eStore US this year, I have seen a lot of battery replacements for various Asus laptops that are definitely older than the G73 series. So if I were you, I would wait for the Asus eStore US to be available again in order for you to have a genuine battery replacement unit with support in case of unexpected issues. If you found out that Asus eStore US has stocks for the Asus G73 replacement battery, try to contact with them first and inquire about the latest manufacturing date of their battery replacement stocks. Those stocks would have a manufacturing date sticker for sure. Getting the stock with the most recent manufacturing date would ensure you that the battery replacement would have a lesser battery wear level.

JehutyZeroshift - thanks for the advice. I had not thought to check ASUS' Taiwan (or Europe) website.

The ASUS US eStore is still down. Has been for a while. If I thought it would be back soon......
