I could never do that to such a fine laptop.
1-You could of done as I did and remove the screws from the back panel and replaced it with velcro [not really necessary as the back panel should stay when you want it to], then remove it when gaming so that a cooler can shove some air into the chasis.
2-Use a cooling pad... or make one.

I think the heat problem only matters when you are running games. I solved mine by removing the bottom lid, i placed the laptop in a stand and i'm blowing air directly to the GPU with a chasis fan. Max temps while playing BF3 are 86 celcius degrees, in a room in the caribbean, without AC.So i think there was no need to do that to the laptop.

That is a little Extreme for just cooler temps, my G73 never gets over 72 when playing GTA4 even with icenhancer, even with a overclock of 780/1000. you ever thought of just cleaning it it helps wonders for me. Dropped 6 degrease afterwords.
