My ASUS G73jh-b1 freezes for some reason whenever I click back to get into the game after I alt tabbed/minimized it. It doesn't happen the first time I do it, but it always happens the 2nd time. I've counted to 3 minutes while it was stuck on the black screen, did ctrl + alt + del and closed it. I have no idea what's wrong. I'm downloading TF2 now to see if it does it with TF2. I'll edit this post in a bit once it's finished downloading to see if it's just something with the source engine.
Specs are 8gb 1333 RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870, i7-740qm, Windows Home Premium. Everything is up to date, flashed the vbios and the bios. GPU-z is in the background proving that it's staying at 700/1000 while in the game and 405/1000 out of it

Try to include what driver versions you are using. We all know the hardware specs.
-
Driver Packaging Version 8.782-100930m-106237C-ATI
Catalystâ„¢ Version 10.10
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1081
Direct3D Version 8.14.10.0784
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.10243
Catalystâ„¢ Control Center Version 2010.0930.2237.38732
All of my drivers are up to date, I think. Also, I tried it on TF2 and it doesn't freeze, but after alt + tabbing it takes about 20-30 seconds to load back up. It doesn't do this on games like Torchlight and League of Legends, though. -
It could be just Source Engine, as it takes ages for me to Alt Tab in and out on my old M1530.Source Engine is just slow at Alt Tabbing.
Freezing doesnt seem to be normal to me, though.
You can try to add -sw to the properties for force the game to run in a window if you want to access the programs outside the game.
May i know whats the reason that you alt tab from the game?
