    Hi all.

This beast is still demanding me to buy it, almost a year after first reading about it. I'm referring to the 3D matt-screen version.

I have a coupla questions, please:

    1) is the SATA-slot for the main hard drive SATA-III? I plan to put an Intel Series 520 SSD in there.

    2) a third storage drive would be really useful. Has anyone replaced their BluRay drive for a second hard drive? I know you probably need a caddy, but what is the connector? If SATA, is it also SATA-III?

    3) Is the WLAN adaptor onboard removable? I'd eventually like to try a Bigfoot 1103.

    Thanks in advance :)

    1) The primary bay is Sata III, that 520 series works great in there.

    2) I believe the ODD is going to be Sata II. You won't have a problem using any drives in here though. Even the 520 series doesn't saturate the SataII bandwidth capabilities.

    3) The Wireless is upgradable and the 1103 works with it no problem.

If you install Bigfoot Killer 1103, you need to add the 3rd Antenna to make it perform well. If you use the original 2 antennas built in, then you will not get the full benefit and performance of Bigfoot Killer 1103.

Brilliant! Thanks...I'd already 95% decided on the G74SX, but this confirmation makes it 100%. The funny thing is I identified this laptop at the end of last year, it was the first candidate. Since then I've been through literally every other alternative, and now that the funds are ready, the first candidate proves to be the best after all  The G75 3D successor also looks great, but I don't need the slightly higher-end CPU/graphics and the screen is the same (and at €800 more vs the G74SX 3D, it's just too expensive).
