    Found on Tiger Direct: Asus ROG G750JX-TB71 Notebook - 4th Generation (Haswell) Intel Core i7-4700HQ 2.4GHz, 16GB DDR3, 750GB HDD, 3GB Nvidia GTX770M, Blu-Ray, 17.3 Full HD Display, Windows 8 64-bit, 1-Year Asus ADP at TigerDirect.com[1]

Compared to the listing price of $1650 on Amazon, is this deal too good to be true? I'm looking for a replacement desktop to play FFXIV and some League. I don't desperately need a new laptop, but I've been casually browsing for a few weeks now and this is one of the best deals I've found. Considering the -$100 rebate ends tomorrow, should I jump on this deal?

Some context: my current laptop is a 17" HP dv-7 that I've had for about 3-4 years. It runs fine, but FFXIV is pretty choppy. I'm hoping to find a new laptop to last me another 3-4 years. I don't always play the most spec-intesive games, but it'd be nice to have the option to.

So long as you trust the retailer that is a decent deal.

TigerDirect is fine. I bought a refurb ASUS G73JH from them a few years back that arrived in like-new condition and worked well for a couple years until I sold it. I try to buy from them whenever possible, especially the more expensive products, since both Newegg and Amazon tax my state considerably.

Of course technically you should be declaring the purchase at the end of the year and paying that tax anyway right? ;)

G750JX is a good laptop. Tigerdirect is fine. Save the $350, use that towards a 512GB SSD, and reinstall windows 8. I will say that the easiest way to install windows 8 on a system like this with secureboot, is to borrow a windows 8 disc from someone.

    No one does that. :D

Those dual 750Ms are not really a good choice over the 770M which will provide much smoother frame times.
