A driver or os reload won't fix your issue, it's definitely hardware related. I would try to reseat the video connector first, make sure you didn't pinch the video cable when you put it back together. Also you can remove the graphics card and clean the pins with an eraser and concentrated isopropyl.

Yes, last chance. You can set up bios to default or reset.

Did you spread your thermal compound? With ICD you want to use the compression method instead of spreading it. Spreading it will cause air pockets.

    http://www.innovationcooling.com/application.html

Technically when you remove the screw on the cpu with the sticker on it that says "warranty void if removed or damaged" then you will probably lose your warranty. Though in certain circumstances it can be overlooked.

Without a warranty sticker Asus would be open to constant claims that weren't real warranty issues.

Asus doesn't have very good support (I've dealt with that hell once) but their hardware and designs are among the best out there. I think your best bet at this point is trying to find a local business that can reball your video card or you can buy another video card. You can also try to clean the bga under the chip with some isopropyl and air.

I don't want to start anything but this obviously isn't a driver issue since the artifacts still exist in the bios.

Please don't give bad advice here, this is how bad information spreads.

Vooo, look into gpu reballing/bga solder rework. If you are in the US you could try L2 computer repair from Brooklyn NY. I have used their service in the past and was more than happy with the final results. There has only been one motherboard they weren't able to repair (G46vw with liquid damage).

Link to their repair service below.

You can also buy another video card if you don't want to go the repair route.

Yes sadly a lot of electronic failures only show up with techniques such as x-ray analysis.

If you have exhausted all other options it can be worth a try, just be aware reflowing if it does fix it tends to not last a hugely long time.

That's not always true, reflowing has earned a bad rep because of people cutting corners. The most important step before a reflow is to clean under the chip with air and concentrated isopropyl. The other important step is to make sure the solder below the chip gets to a certain temperature. There are so many people guessing instead of measuring the exact temp.

The machine I used to use when I owned WMC.

I still have a working jtagged xbox that I repaired years ago by reflowing it.

It all depends on the technique.

It's going to also depend on the condition of the solder, exactly where the solder is damaged (IE is it betweent he package and chip or between the die and the package). Cleaning the solder that does not have the issue wont help ;)

The temps are good so shipping it back would be odd at this point. Was it something you were not happy with?

i purchased my laptop by broker [something like shipping company ]. why broker ? because i cant bought any items direct from usa to egypt and he do the very complex customs clearance.
the broker, described the problem to the seller on ebay and the seller said to him send the laptop to repair it under warranty. [ i can't believe this ] o_O
.i can't bought used gpu because i don't trust it
