Issue: All sound (whether through headphones, external speakers, or laptop speakers) is accompanied by a really crackling sound
Occurs: Can't identify pattern - sometimes it starts after hours of gaming, other times it is present on startup
Troubleshooting: A restart almost always fixes this issue

    Thoughts?

You could try reinstalling the drivers or look for updated drivers.

Should I just update them from the ASUS website?

Updated the Realtek driver and the bios. Hopefully fixed it! I hate not being able to test it. lol.
    Thanks again.

Will do. So far, no issue. And I was on the pc for like 8 hours yesterday. Relying on sound the whole time. I’m hopeful it will never come back.

Reviving this because the exact issue just started happening again. Checked, and there are no driver updates.

If I restart the pc it seems to fix the problem.

Maybe its from a Windows update has damaged the drivers or rolled them back or something weird like that. If drivers fixed it before then it does not sound like a hardware issue. I am going to have to format my computer as its a few year old install of Win 10 and its got serious issues now. Keeps wanting to restart for updates and then says updates failed. I spent too much time already trying to fix it. Going to wipe it out.

May be the best option at this point, hope you have all your stuff backed up already.

Yeah I did check and the driver still shows the most current rev. I’ll uninstall and reinstall.
