I believe the g53sx has a gtx 560m, but it's a gimped card at 128 bit, meaning that the gtx 460m at 192 bit would outperform it. Usually done to lower price.

Yeap, only really done to keep the price low. If you want a 6990 in an ASUS, your only hope is getting yourself a G73JH and installing it yourself :D

But the 6990m doesn't work in the g73hj. May people have tried and have come up empty.

Hmm well you're splitting hairs; true no one has tried the 6990, but 6970 HAS been proven to work, with the proper mod/prep for the cooling.

Personally I'm waiting for the 7000 series. But the 6970 does work, if youve read that entire thread.

ASUS has pulled out of the ultra high end market as the sales are much lower than the mid range gaming that is going in the laptop space.

You don't need such high end cards to game per-se as most people don't have time to stop and appreciate how great a tessellated leaf looks like before they get shot or loose some points in that time. Won't improve your sniping skills on BF3 either lol

Ultra high end cards are needed when you have a weakness for playing at the absolute highest eye candy settings a game can offer. Its all in the head. Like me. And even I will admit there is little to tell from the Utlra to Highest settings in most games, the difference needs you to pause and observe to really notice them.

If someone has the budget for those by all means get the higher end cards, but if you don't you are still gaming at the high end with cards like the 560M or 5870 mobilities.
