I need some help installing 10.8 ATI driver's I did a fresh windows install I already have bios up to date and also Gary's gsod fix
I followed the thread on what to install for a fresh Format of windows 7, I also updated from home to ultimate so I have all the necessary drivers up to date except the ATI driver I did not install now I just need to find out why when installing the ATI driver which in fact was downloaded from here ATI Catalyst? Mobility Display Driver
At first I downloaded the Full Software Suite for some reason that didn't work so i went ahead and uninstalled it by manager and also used drive sweeper next I downloaded from the same site Catalyst Control Center 10.8 mobility
When I ran this it stated that my gpu was not compatible ?
so i went ahead and followed this thread AMD Game Forums - Catalyst 10.9 will not even start and did the procedures with the hotfix
I am going to reinstall windows again i would like to know if someone can help me out should i just install the driver that the CD came with for the ATI? How did everyone get their ATI to update
-
You shouldn't have to reinstall Windows again and you shouldn't need any driver sweeper either. -
Also the 10.8 mobile version of the drivers are the latest version out for laptops. If you are downloading the 10.9 for the desktop they will not work.
Also you might have to do all the updates for your Win 7 before you update the video drivers. There is an issue with the C code that was in the install disk of Windows. So make sure that you are updated with all the updates first for Win 7.
And make sure that you have the right version for your Op system, 32bit or 64bit. -
I downloaded the suite 10.8 if you read my post.
Are you speaking about the c++ updates?
I shot you a message hopefully you read it -
Wow no one is willing to help me out wdf kind of ppl are you 104 views and only have received 2 responses. I thought we was here to help each other out but most ppl here are more interested in applying stupid tims to their gpu's and cpu's.

Try downloading the driver again maybe FlowCpu. Or from somewhere else. Like from here: Download ATI Catalyst Display Driver 10.8 for Radeon, Radeon Mobility Cards for Windows 7, Vista, XP | Drivers Software, Tutorials and Tech
Good luck

Basically , uninstall everything of ATI's... than go to here and download
ATI Catalyst? Mobility Display Driver
from here full software suit. Open , let it install than download the actual driver by opening the install location or something. It will download the driver and show the driver installing.. i used this one so should be a problem. -
Thanks for the quick response
The problem is that it did not build a uninstaller in add and remove the only thing i see that was built was in file repository and in the program files. It failed to install properly 3 times already I tried and each time I reformated my drive with g-parted.
Could have it been that i needed windows to update which i did but directx wasn't installed? When going to device manager I see a yellow exclamation point under other devices PCI SIMPLE COMMUNICATIONS CONTROLLER also.
Ugh frustrating i tried downloading the cata on guru3d and it does the same thing so getting it from another source wouldn't help much. -
The PCI SIMPLE COMMUNICATIONS CONTROLLER is probably the Intel Management Engine stuff - you can install it or not (won't effect performance).
Don't know if I mentioned this before or if you tried, but try installing the stock video driver package from Asus then install 10.8 (no need for driver sweeper app). -
alright mark i'll go ahead and see if that help's.

I just recently got my G73JH and been trying to install new drivers aswell but I always get the same error at the install and that is : "Can't find INF file".
Been trying with the 10.7a drivers, 10.8 drivers and both give me the same error.
Only drivers I managed to install are the 10.6 cause thats the only one where the installer doesnt give an error like the one I stated above. -
Get 10.10 Here
*edit* Sorry - looks like 10.10 still not up yet, but that link will get you 10.8 at least. -
Yea I finally got the 10.10 drivers installed, glad they worked out
