Has any1 tried it yet on a GSOD G73?
-
+1 rep. Thanks man! (still doesn't help me run GTA4 but, meh)
-
-
^^ GTA4 ran fine for me on 10.7a. Thanks for these drivers TC
-
Okay so blue screen of death in starcraft 2 stock vbios, 10.8 so they don't fix the problem, see what the new Asus vbios can do for us later.
-
haha, lol...vBIOS delayed because of a new bug (RSOD in Mafia 2) and now the other promissed "super stable" solution, the 10.8 driver isn't working correctly neither... this is getting annoying
-
Thanks for the link
gonna try it out later though i dont think it can install on my system with this crappy bios....
-
Any news about 10.8 from asus??
-
-
ATI Site still shows 10.7...
ATI Catalyst? Mobility Display Driver -

Chastity already confirmed with Gary that the Asus techs abandoned the "promised" 10.8 driver fix and opted to just concentrate on the VBios. There is no Asus 10.8 being worked on, our only hope is the VBios.
-
10.8's working great here. Furmark for 30 min and mafia 2 for a bit.
Then again, im one that never got a GSOD and have temps lower then some even with a re-paste and I never repaisted. -
-
I would reflash but I use the HDMI port so the new VBIOS is a no go for me. Im very curious how they are going to fix this seeing as some people dont have any issues with the laptop.
-
updated to 10.8 and got GSOD in metro 2033, back to stock 8.683
-
I'm running 10.7a without GSODs so I'm assuming 10.8 will run fine. Going to give them a whirl when I get home tonight.
-
Gary just copy msi vbios and it'is all over!
please
-
i don't understand why ati doesn't check their new drivers before they publish them, releasing bad drivers is just wrong!!!
-
-
did someone installed 10.8 and didn't get GSOD?
i have bios 211 btw, don't have GSOD with the 8.683 stock drivers! -
Nice drivers, better performance in games even lower temps about 3C for me but they dont remember the settings made in CCC. Every time when I restart or turn on ntb I must set overscan and colors again.
-
does updating to the newer catalyst drivers (10.8) cause problems for the G73? I'm planning to update my bios to 211, and update to catalyst 10.8 as well. just want to be updated is all..
just want to make sure before i do something i regret.
thanks -
-
was 10.8 the supposed "G73 compatible" driver update?
-
I have no confirmation on that.
-
10.8 still GSODs for machines which GSODed on 10.6, 10.7, 10.7a...etc. This driver will not fix your GSOD.
Having said that, I experienced about 5% increase in FPS in SC2, while temps remained the same (hovered around 102C). -
-
Yes, your GSODs will go away...
but so will your VGA port and HDMI port functionality...
Also, if you unsuccessfully flash your vbios, you will void your warranty with Asus.
Even if you successfuly flash your vbios with that of MSI or Clevo...you would need to flash back to the Asus vbios, if you ever decide to RMA and want Asus to 'honor' their warranty. -
Heh, I think I will kick ATI in the privates.
10.8 has been really rocky for me, but 10.7a has been fine. So I decided to rip all things ATI out, and started to see if I can come up with a working 10.8 setup. Using the combined drivers/CCC package = FAIL. Using that same package to do a driver only install = WIN. So with no CCC installed, my Hairy Donuts run just fine. Go figure.
I think what I will do next is install CCC separately, and then have it restore itself to defaults. I'll let y'all know how it turns out.
UPDATE: Using the CCC only install package, and following up with a "Restore to Factory Defaults" has given me a much more stable 10.8 experience thus far.
So my advice is, if you have an unstable system, try going into CCC and restoring to factory defaults. If that doesn't help, try uninstalling all the ATI stuff, and then installing the drivers only. Test that out and see if the issues go away. If that works, then grab the CCC Only install package and install that with a Restore to Defaults. (Restore to Defaults can be found under Options...Preferences...Restore Factory Defaults) -
I'm extremely wary of updating the vbios or drivers, I never had to do any of it on my old Dell, so if I do end up buying a G73 its all these kinds of problems I'm not looking forward to
ATI 10.8 drivers (all flavors)
