No temp increase here. In fact, I got a 2C drop. Gaming though, and not stress-testing.

Must have just been a bad Furmark session or HWINFO was confused because I was seeing the 90's highest temp and that never happen. Restressed for 30 minutes and its back at a steady 81oC max temp with 825/1100.

    Hmmmmmmmm!

well I am happy to report after a BLue screen crash, and a fail to find a bootable device.
I am back up and running. 11.5a

The Idle temps are the same...
Why is the important to me. Becuase I run at Idle most of the time.

On the defualt stock drivers, It runs at 60c and on 11.4 and 11.5a it runs idle ar 49c.
So I know it is good to go for now.

I hope to game test later this week...

i've never noticed an increase in temps before with driver changes but now idle and gaming temps are fine and same as before but weirdly furmark temps are higher.. I would like to think its coz summer is here but its been cool here for the past 2 days so it isnt raised environmental temp..

anyway am happy, its fine as gaming temps are ok.. and thanks for linking these nekki..!

for anyone who's interested, temps are as follows (with ambient room temp of about 36-37C = ~99F)

    idle @ 100/125 @.70V - 48-50
    gaming @ 750/1000 @1.15V - 75-80
Furmark @ 750/1000 @1.15V - previously after about 3 mins it would hit 80 and then hover there as the fans hit max speed at 80 with new vbios, but now on 11.5a, it just kept rising slowly, hit 83-84 when i switched it off..

I really don't understand why people hesitate so much with temps? I mean, if the temps raise one or two degrees you going to stop gaming? In addition to that, why stress the GPU that much if this scenario is so uncommon for gaming. Just few games stress the GPU over 90% and those ones which use the 100% are unoptimized engines.

The one from AMD website is the desktop version and won't install the drivers in laptop. Use the modded one that I posted on the first page.

BTW, 11.5a works like butter :)

hmm installed 11.5 then ran 11.5a hotfix , seemed to go ok but my catalyst still says 11.5? o_O

    how did you guys install?.

edit: uninstalled everything through catalyst installer and reinstalled 11.5a hotfix from first post, still showing 11.5 and my wireless light didnt come on for some reason.

edit2: completely uninstalled catalyst and ticked delete driver software in device manager, reinstalled and it still shows 11.5 =/

Our Matriarch is displeased. There will be retribution.

I didn't install the hotfix, and am still on the WHQL 11.5, and I don't see any ill effects. Benching soon to get some synthetic numbers. Those on 11.5a should do a Vantage run for a point in comparison.

    I get P8540 with 11.5. I got P8582 with the previews.

WEI is gimmicky if you ask me so i wouldn't bother with the scores it gives me. If you want to compare performance, use 3Dmark vantage/11

I installed the mobility modded 11.5a on the g73 with a clean install (driver sweeper and everything) and it shows 11.5 instead. I assume that 11.5a is in fact installed just showing as 11.5? Or am I wrong or I need to do something about it?

The "11.5" thing is just a human-readable string and means nothing. Often it's forgotten in the installer packages altogether. You should be looking at and comparing actual driver version numbers.

11.5a do not help anyhow Brink...sadly.

The game has issues with 11.5 and 11.5a and in general with ati cards (mobile, desktop and even crossfire). It's clearly unoptimized since it running in IDTech 4 (Doom3, Quake4) and removing shadows completely seems to be the trick for playable gameplay so far.

Revert back to the 11.4 WHQL drivers for Brink. It seems to work 'alot' better. Turn shadows off for best performance 'r_shadows 0'.

    Same problem here with Brink.

Installed 11.5a and still abnormally the game is almost unplayable..
Performs poorly even with shadows to medium (that's the lowest settings for shadow)

    Its not normal
The game doesn't look too demanding.. (Graphics etc.) even at 720p its poor.

It feels as if the game coding is suffering or unoptimized..

Unacceptable today to have games running so poorly on a laptop such as the G73

I dont know how it can possibly run normal, maybe patches from the dev

I am amazed at the bad work the devs have done with the PC version

The requirements are quite high mind check your laptop against the Yougamer requirements here and the GPU barely reaches recommended. Might need a few patches before it runs better could be a poor port.
