Just did a factory reset and was just installing the drivers and couldn't understand why it was not coming up with 11.2
This confirmed it
EDIT: Im not gonna even bother with this driver as it does appear to like my 5870M got BSOD 3 times when trying to install it and then when I did get it to install the driver just crashed.
Sticking with 11.2. -
there are far away from the 11.4 in performance right .... ?
if yes i wouldn't bother then -
Installed 11.3, Bulletstorm is now buttery smooth, and I get 27-30fps on All High, V-Sync on, and 4xAA. Doesn't even dip below 25 when I unleash a charged Boneduster on 5 burning Creeps
Did my own OpenGL hack back to version .524 and life's good.
Crysis 2 runs as it did on 11.2. No improvements as I could see nor loss of performance. -
How are these compared to 11.4 preview?
-
yea i also would want to know. Bulletstorm runs fine with 11.4 too, i felt amazed when i started playing it again when i update mine to 11.4. Before it was laggy on max setting but now ..... smooth like silk xD
-
drki 11.4 then 11.4 what?
can people try these with dragon age 2? -
did anyone tried them for BFBC2? do they give the same boost performance like 11.4 preview?
-
@scampupy : Its 11.4RC2 if thats what you asking.
With dragon age 2, i have 30+fps with DX11 on very high setting, high texture pack, no vsync and no AA -
I do not know if its me but 11.3 seems better then 11.4
Dragon age 2 clocks 840/1090 DX11 high setings everything else maxes even AA + high texture pack i am getting a good 25-30 in combat. Seems a bit higher remeber 23-27 on 11.4 But might just be me.
On very high + high texture and everything maxes even AA and getting 12-18. At stock clocks 8-14fps so to me the driver seems to have made a bit of a diference.
To me high and very high looks almost the same so high setings maxed looks good and can play OK at 840/1090 -
-
Ignore my post above it was me that had the problem not the drivers.
11.3 so far is better than 11.4 for me in several games smoother without issue and I can now overclock 840/1140 without the driver crashing in Arcania and Crysis 2.
Anyone else notice their temps a lot lower while extreme burn is active? I have dropped about 4oC. Maxing 83oC 840/1140.
My max on 11.2 was 800/1100 any higher it would artifact. -
i have just played BFBC2 with 830/1120 with to artifacts/crashes... i have tried 840/1140 but the driver crashed+artifacts... i have tried 830/1130 and i had artifacts.... i will stress it more tomorrow to see if those settings (830/1120) are stable!
-
-
i thought the 11.4 were AMD's Project Mjolnir which gave big improvements (APRIL releases)... but 11.3 (March releases) weren't from that project(if i am correct) , so how can the 11.3 drivers be better?
-
everything went smoothly at 11.3... played bfbc2 for half an hour with 800/1100...
-
-
11.3 is just 11.2 with more stability and a few fixes is what I'm hearing, they will perform nearly the same. 11.4 is the performance driver, but I'd wait until it leaves preview stage for stability reasons.

11.03 WHQL is out + 11.04 03/23 repackaged and updated (use this version over any other. uninstall first) + 270.51 Beta for both mobility and desktop.
It's raining drivers! Hallelujah!...
(Of course my driver page is updated) -
@Chasity arent the same as yesterday"s release?? Am referring to 11.3...
ok guy i played crysis 2 multi with 830/1120 and got driver crashed.. hmm lets test 820/1120
edit: am returning back to 800/1100 after crashes!! crap! -
Driver crash should be game related not GPU. I got some driver crashes with DA2 at 800/1100 with 11.4 a few times and then it stoped after DA2 update.
-
i can play some games on 800/1100 but some crash so 780/1080 is stable as rock for me
i am asking myself why does it crash? i think it is not temperature related
but i keep reading that guys with different drivers can clock more and with others can't (does that make any sense? - i mean 40 mhz difference? )
the game would just freeze for a moment (driver stopped responding and unfreeze after a couple of seconds)
if i use higher clocks the whole system will crash -
800/1100 clocks never caused me any problems.. as it seems i cant OC more than this...!
-
noob question
if i set mine to 800/1100, the gpu will get hotter right ?
-
yeap.. just check your temps with GPU-Z or HWinfo32 and compare

Anyone have CCC crash non-stop after installing? Granted, I installed over the "stock" 10.7. Tried powering off, but even after restarting, CCC crashes when trying to load.
-
-
Thanks, will try that.
Edit: Lolz. Driversweeper decided to go ahead and remove my setup files as well that I had in the ATI folder. If I would have known it would be that thorough, I would have hid more files in the recycle bin. -
Edit: By the way before you use Driver Sweeper just be sure that....oh....never mind -
Lol. Thought it was just going to delete the drivers, registry files, and the actual programs used to run them. Not the set up files to install them.
Anyway, it works fine now, although I don't particularly care for how CCC looks now, even in advanced mode. -
Hello I'm having issues to install any new Drivers, I tried 11.4 and 11.3 both show no Drivers for my G73JH HD5870:
I tried Driver Sweeper to get rid of all the crap, successfully but even then I can't install new drivers >.<
Thanks! -
It took me a few attempts.
1. Uninstall the CCC software using the control panel uninstall option.
2. Right click computer - properties - device manager and uninstall the 5870 driver. (tick remove drivers software also)
3. Run drive sweeper (safe mode is recommended but I didnt bother) and clear out all remaining ATI files.
4. Restart. When it restarts it will say installing driver automatically. Once complete go back to device manager and it should be Standard VGA controller/driver if not go back to 1 and try again.
5. Download and install the new driver (changed the location to program files x86 if 64 bit I dunno why but this was my problem it didnt like the normal program files folder - could be my G73 it has a mind of its own) and once complete it should give you the option to restart once installed and that should do it.

I tend to stay well away from Driver Sweeper unless absolutely necessary.
Uninstalling via the CCC setup is best, then a reboot, then a run of ATI Crap Cleaner.bat. Or TwL's similar .bat files.
Removes it completely and efficiently.
mubay's problem of not being able to install the driver is very replicable and happens when you uninstall with Driver Sweeper hard and fast. Not recommended in my experience.
Even more extreme if you want to remove the drivers Device Manager rollsback too are located here.
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\c7******.inf_amd64_neutral_1f4fd3babc2509c9
All advice is at your own risk though. -
I'm having some strange issues with uninstall/install of CCC and ATI install manager. I can't get past the "Select Installation Operation" (just after the Welcome Page: native language is selected) whereby you have the two options to install or uninstall. After selecting [either option], nothing happens. Once in a while Windows 7 acts as if there's a compatibility issue, but I haven't been able to get past that point regardless of what I've tried. And when I say "nothing happens", I mean that literally. No error messages, or messages of any kind for that matter. I had Task Mngr open to see if I could glean any info, but the install manager just quietly drops off the list of running applications.
Steps so far:
I uninstalled the ATI Manager and CCC that appeared in my list of currently installed programs, but the CCC program remained.
I then rebooted to safe mode and uninstalled using Driver Sweeper, which brought me back to basic VGA drivers. Then tried to install the Catalyst package again, in safe mode, and in... unsafe mode? regular mode? both from various links around these forums and directly from Asus, directly from ATI... same thing, exactly.
Then I finally had to roll back my drivers, in which case it did not immediately restore the original 5870 drivers, but after doing a search from one of the options in the rollback menus the 5870 drivers came up as an option, so that got me back to square one.
I haven't yet tried the examples stated above, but the main issue right now at this moment is that I don't have an option to uninstall via CCC set up or via Control Panel, unless I'm missing something. And though I'm sure that's easy enough to solve, I am unable to get through the driver install process.
I'll try Dallers instructions now...
EDIT: Actually I'm going to chicken out. Its late and I don't feel like getting stuck with basic video drivers without a contingency. Dallers' instructions doesn't seem to evidence any issues with the actual installation of the new drivers. -
I'd try redownloading the driver package, or getting a newer one.
-
I was unable to install the 11.3 Drivers from ATI, I really don't know why but I tried many things and nothing worked.
So, I used the Driver package made by Chastity on the ROG forum (3dguru release+something) and they installed the latest driver alright, so I'm running on the 11.4 RC2 now.
There is a very nice framerate increase on most DX9-DX11 games I play, specially on battlefield Bad company 2 there is a HUGE fps increase the game feels much more fluid with all settings maxed out.
The loading times on Black ops shortened a bit, and the frame rate increased around 3-5 FPS.
Thanks! -
I gave instructions to uninstall the driver - Remove any ATI files left over using a sweeper or cleaner - Restart - Reinstall the driver as this is what I did and it worked for me after the following issues: (Installing but doesnt actually install the driver) (BSOD when installing) (CCC crashing when selected and resolution being stuck at low res) These were all fixed for me by doing the above and not installing over an old driver.
Its pretty straight forward stuff but stick with 11.4 if you are having problems my instructions were for people wanting to use 11.3. -
Actually, I'm suspicious of the ISP I'm currently using. Cox in Arizona has some strange issues, so I'm told, so its very likely I'm not getting clean downloads to begin with.
I'm away from home visiting family, so I'll try again when in familiar territory.
As a for-instance: I cannot now, nor have I been able to access the Asus ROG forums. I just get "webpage cannot be found". Unless the site is down, but I don't see any indications that this is the case. So where I would love to use Chastity's links, I cannot.
My in-laws mentioned that there are issues with Cox ISP. Sometimes Cox users are unable to receive emails from other Cox users! That's quality.
So if there is any kind of information loss with something as simple as email transmissions, how sure can I be that my downloads are coming through?
But thanks for responding anyway. Can't wait to get those new drivers installed. Lot's of good reading to do in the mean time on this forum! -
The asusrog.com site is currently down due to some server issues, and the Admin was on vacation for the last week and a half or so. He'll be back today and promised me he'd attack it pronto.
-
someone is counting on you -
-
It is quite bad timing rather as I also have need of the Chastity Driver fantastico
Multiply that by most of the Asus Gaming forum postersthats quite a few.

Since this has veered slightly off topic has the forum where Chastity has her driver reference; officially replaced this forum:
