If you are using 10.10e modified for mobile use, keep using that. It's newer than the 10.11.

I've downloaded this, and so far no GSOD. Getting 118~121 FPS on Medium/High settings for SC2. Steady 83 FPS during heavy battle encounters.

Why don't you just try it? It takes 10 minutes to uninstall, reboot, and install it?

They look pretty cra* t be honest. Nothing to do with black ops improvements. Sticking with 10.10e drivers for now.

Friends Are these the 2 items needed to update the video driver?
Catalyst Software Suite and AMD Catalyst™ Accelerated Parallel Processing (APP) Technology Edition.
I am still running the stock video driver and CCC version from the factory. Thanks, J

Yeah dunno whats wrong with the installer, but every time it tries to download the actual package, it tells me the download was canceled and the installer functionally fails. Oh well...

Does it really now? NFS HP runs really smooth for me most of the time, but since you said that I might try it.

Honestly, I prefer a faster, stable driver release to MLAA... It just blurs everything a little bit. Just turn ordinary aa to 4x and the edges are more selectively softened, rather than blurring the whole darned picture.

so far it switched all of my monitor programs to a different temperature sensors

(most of the monitor programs pick up the GPU TS0 DispIO as the main temp so now im going by that )
    Idle 52C
    Load 71C ish, so far

    before on 10.10
(read off the GPU Thermal diode)
    Idle 60C
    Load 82C believe

There are 3 thermal sensors on the 5870m. Your 12 degree difference may simply be the difference between MemIO temp and GPU temp.

Interesting, Msi afterburner was showing 88C max yesterday, before I applied the update. Today, I've been playing the same games, actually more than that and it shows 76C as max temp. Am I the only one?

Well Everest shows MemIO as 88, so everything is same except msi i guess...

So it seems these drivers have also dropped my temp reading? Is this reading still accurate? If so I'l be very pleased as I was gaming on full out with temps reaching into the low 90's (ambient temp 30-40c, aussie summer coming on) and they are now low-mid 80s?

Installer wouldn't download the file for me either... exactly the same error some of you are getting.

So I tried individual files download and ran that. It installed fine, but for some reason my GPU isn't being recognised by the software... any ideas or suggestions?

    Cheers!

    EDIT:

Well I've solved the problem. Used DriverSweeper to delete any and all files that were still on the system both ATI and NVIDIA (for PhysX) and rebooted a few times to make sure it was all clean. Then downloaded the AMD Catalyst APP pack and installed that. Rebooted and after that things were back to normal.

I've yet to play some games and run some tests for stability, but at least this hickup seems to have been solved!

It's NFS Hot Pursuit running actually better with 10.11?

So far, with DNA 10.10c needs to disable shadows and anisotropic filtering to get (some kind of) stable 60 fps.

Why are you using DNA 10.10C when you can use the mods from Guru3D where the mobile mod is actually done right?

So can anyone else confirm that the drivers are actually dropping temps, not just confusing the sensors? I know NV cards typically only display TS0 when their memio can be much higher than what the user thinks... but a couple people have reported their TS1 temps are down too on these.

If their performance and stability is equal/greater than 10.8, 10.11 might actually be worth an upgrade... or better yet, 10.12 might have mlaa AND lower temps :D

I'll hold out for 10.12 personally. Or a modded 10.12.

According to the guru3d forums, the 16bit posterization that's present in the 10.10 set is fixed in 10.11, although 10.10e is the recommended driver set to stick with as .11 has a ton of unresolved issues. Also, no MLAA without inf mods, for those that care about the menu wrecker that is MLAA.

Edit: That file installed the 10.11 drivers just fine. Lost MLAA and SFO of course, but I did not care about those. Now to test performance.

I seem to be getting lower temps with these. 10 min of Furmark reports a max temp of 82C, which is a few notches lower than ive experienced since my repaste.

It's not actually lower temps, I tested Furmark while running HWinfo in the background. Furmark gave a reading of 86 deg while it usually gave me around 92, but in the HWinfo program, it had the 86 deg as the GPU TS0 (DispIO) while the thermal diode, MemIO and Shader were all around the 90-93 range that furmark usually gives.

It just seems that the reading is now from the DispIO instead of another part.

I've been having issues with installing this too. I can't download the actual package with the 1mb downloader the provide, which is one problem, and when I try to install with the full downloaded package, it was saying my driver was up to date (782 is not up to date).

So I completely wiped 10.10 from my laptop last night and tried installing the full package. It refused to do much more than install the Install Manager. When I rebooted and tried again, it told me it couldn't install the driver nor start CCC because my hardware was not supported. That makes lots of sense.

I'm also having problem installing the new 10.11 driver, in fact any driver above 10.8. I think for me it has gotten worst. After doing the process of uninstalling the drivers (10.8) and doing the driver sweep and ATI crap cleaner I haven't been able to reinstall 10.8 driver since. For the past few days I've been running Asus stock drivers.

I have no idea what's causing the driver not to install. Can anybody help?

    thanks

Just to add, I successfully installed 10.8 driver with the new vbios post in the forum which is how I got to 10.8 driver.
