I've found that even if you write as fast as you can you won't miss keystrokes.

I've always typed really carefully at the start so i won't brake the buttons of the keyboard but once i saw that the only way to write something is to really push the button and to feel it.

Your only fix is to really feel the button, there shouldn't be any fix and my computer shouldn't be any different from your computer, i don't have any miss keystrokes now when i'm pushing the buttons a little stronger/harder.

Its a laptop keyboard it should look like it's flat out and you need to push it because of how it's built, i can't see it as a defect or a negetive thing.

I do have the Synapitics driver and the ATK driver with the shortcuts.

    Let me know-
PS: I wrote all this without a single missed word in less than 2 min

I have no idea what you are talking about. I can't make heads or tails of this. I enable the touchpad in BIOS and drop keystrokes constantly. I disable the touchpad in BIOS and type on the same keyboard the same way and never miss a single keystroke.

I'm going to disable the touchpad in my BIOS today after readying what all of you have tried in order to fix this.

This is by far one of the most annoying "features" of this outrageously expensive machine. I LOVED the keyboard on my Toshiba x205-sli1. Even my cheapo Acer netbook doesn't frustrate me like this ASUS does.

Obviously, your unit does not exhibit the problem.

That is one of the big issues here, too many people stating that there is no problem just because THIER UNIT does not do it.

While typing this I had to redo a ton of stuff because of missed characters.

Like it has been posted already, disable the touchpad in BIOS and all these missed characters go away.

I think what he's trying to say is if you don't half *** your keystrokes, and really press down on the keys hard and not use the "gliding" method of typing, the problem seems to disappear. And it's true, when I'm in class and the prof won't stop talking, and I'm typing balls out bonkers 150WPM, I'm shocked to find that not one missed keystroke happens. This adds even more confusion to the issue (although Chastity's intel drivers fixed my problem about 99%, I haven't missed a keystroke typing this post and I'm typing as fast and hard as I could.)

OK. Well I just re-enabled the touchpad in BIOS and tried typing out a few paragraphs hitting the keys deliberately and fairly hard. It doesn't help. I appreciate the suggestion, though. It was worth a try.

You've got it bad, huh Jody? Haha. Even if it did work for you, it shouldn't be like that. The keyboard should work properly with the touchpad, period. We'll have to wait for ASUS to come up with something, although at this point I've lost hope. Gary seems to have disappeared, as did the ASUS forums. I doubt very highly that an RMA would help either. How about the "uninstall synaptics and install touchfreeze" method? Have you given that a try yet? I was thinking of maybe giving that a shot soon.

That works fine, but the touchpad isn't very responsive with default drivers. You have to drag your finger across the TP something like three times to get from one side of the screen to the other. It works OK, though. No missed keys, at least.

Jody: Have you tried disabling other hardware devices? I have the webcam disabled along with Bluetooth.

I think I found a solution for myself in regards to the keyboard lag. I am not sure if its a mental thing or not, but so far my spacebar activates when i tap on it and I type at a fairly decent rate.

What I did was I went into the device manager and noticed 2 drivers under keyboard. The filter drivers and the hid compliant keyboard.

I updated the hid compliant keyboard drivers and changed it to a hid compliant device. The only thing that shows there now is the filter drivers.

Since then I am able to type better and with myself messing up. The touchpad is enabled in my bios but disabled in windows through the hot key. I enabled the touchpad with the hot key and it works good too.

Again I am not sure if its a mental thing, but I felt its alot better considering that I didn't have to smash the spacebar 3 times to jump in fallout new vegas.

I don't follow. You changed the HID compliant keyboard to HID compliant device? How did you do that? You went to update driver and chose "Specify Driver" and drilled down to HID compliant device somewhere instead of HID compliant keyboard?

Sorry. Here is what I did.

    I went to device manager

Right click on the HID-Compliant Keyboard and chose properties
    Chose Update Driver
Browse my computer for driver software
Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
Picked HID-Compliant Device and hit next

The HID-Complaint Device should be on the list compatible hardware

I didn't restart and it felt better immediately, but I would recommend a restart though.

Well I've now tried this and ran through about four typing speed tests. I seem to miss a keystroke about once per paragraph which is far less than normal. I am using Synaptics 15.1.9 which was released by Asus for the 1201 eeePC and has two finger gestures enabled. I also tried kaiten's suggestion with the HID compliant keyboard. It should be noted that during the typing of this missive, I dropped only one keystroke which is very much better than normal.

Well then, I guess this will seem to be a functional workaround until something better comes along. :)

Chastity's intel drivers originally fixed the problem for me 95%. I'd say this pretty much eliminated it. I'll have to test and see if it really works when I'm taking notes in class. Very nice find!

Just tried out typing notes. Seems to be working great. Only issue I believe occurs when you have two of the same letter in a row, although that could just be my lazy typing. I missed one keystroke in this entire post, which is pretty good!
