Anyone know where I can lick up the mounting bracket for another hard drive for my G73? Also I know the main drive is 7200 rpm wouldnthere be any issue with me using a 5400 rpm drive for the 2nd hd as it's main purpose would be to hold music/iTunes/back up files?

There is the asus site over in europe to order the bracket from. I did this a couple weeks ago and am waiting on it to arrive. I am also popping in a spare 250GB 5400 (in now but not secured down) so that'll be fine. Should only see minor performance difference when accessing that drive.

Save yourself 50 bucks and hold the hard drive in place with some tape. Also no, there isn't any issue with using a 5400RPM strictly for storage, I had an issue where I would put games on my 5400RPM HDD and games would freeze for a second every other minute but if you use it strictly for storage then there should be no problem.

I bought a bracket from Asusparts.eu or wherever that is. I put an old 5400 RPM drive in for storage. It doesn't affect performance at all. Like KuroLionheart, I don't install anything to it. It's just for files and whatnot.

I'm not sure about the tape thing. I went ahead and spent a few bucks on the proper caddy. There are two places in California that sell it for $45. That's about what I paid including shipping, I think. It took almost a month to get it so I would suggest the USA places if you are in the U.S. There is a thread from yesterday that has two links to the caddy from Californian websites.

    I used some foam.

I have emailed several times with no reply, and post repeatedly on their facebook page.

I use a 5400RPM hard drive as my 2nd drive in my BB model G73JH and there are no issues. Also, save yourself the money on a 2nd bracket and just use 2 expandable foam earplugs to hold the drive into place in the bay. That's exactly what I do and it works perfectly. Temps don't get high enough in there (especially if it's for a storage/mp3 drive) to worry about heat affecting the foam. Hope this info helps you, and good day to you.

WHERE did you order a $3 bracket? If it's seriously $3 and not $45 I may invest in doing it the non-rigged way.

I just installed my SSD (acutally my friends 30gig SSD, that he loaned me). I put the original HD in the spare bay with some cardboard to hold it in place works ok so far, but I'd definitely like a real bracket, so I want to know where you got it too!
