I am looking into getting an Asus with an above average screen, especially concerning the viewing angles and contrast/sharpness. The other features that the laptop must have are a 15.6 inch screen, possibility to go up to a i7-940 processor, RAM upgrade-ability up to 16GB and a good video card. I plan to use this laptop for gaming and video editing.

It seems that Asus screens can vary considerably, even in expensive systems, so I am really grateful for any suggestions from experienced users.

I think you're SOL - the current batch of 15.6 FHD screens on asus models have been reported as having bad backlight bleed. If you're willing to get a 17 inch model, they've got some really well priced, well powered laptops with amazing screens.

I thought the FHD g51 screen was decent compared to several dells I'd had, but a lot of people are complaining about the g53 screen.

If asus ever ships the 15ich N-series with a decent 1080p screen, that'd be a nice laptop to use.

This is quite unfortunate. In this case, do you have any suggestions for a 17-inch laptop with a great screen?

    Thanks.

Read up on the g73. Notebookcheck has screen quality reviews, as well - perhaps looking on there will help you decide?
