I just did the VGA repaste for the 8th time and CPU repaste for the first time. I checked if the wireless cables are pressing against the reset button. When I press the power button the blue lights light up for half a second and then nothing. Did I possibly damage anything during the repaste?

Its possible you damaged something but probably didnt unless you discharged some static electricity into some component while taking it apart.
Most likely there isnt a cable that got put back in properly. Open it back up and double check those cable, even disconnect and reconnect to make sure they are seated properly.

So I went through the cables one by one and figured out that this one is the problem, the one next to the small (audio?) cable. When that one is connected the lappy will not turn on. When I disconnect it it boots straight in to bios even though the hdds are connected. What is the purpose of that cable? Also, the bd drive and the keyboard are disconnected atm.

That cable is for the board with the buttons on the top left of the notebook if I recall correctly.

So I left that disconnected but the hdds are still not recognized. Do you know which cable is for the hdd bays?

Yes, those guides do not really help in this situation.

You will need to remove the top case again to check SATA cable:
