Hello Guys/girls! i think im in the right thread ^^ Sorry for bad grammer

I bought my Asus G73jw almost 2 years ago. And it worked fine untill a few months ago.

Issue: While gaming i get these lagspikes and FPS dropes time to time and i get static noice sometimes when it happens. For example when i play BF3 i get FPS drops and it all freezes for a sec or less and then it gets back to normal. This happens not so often compared when i play diablo 3. Then i get these problems alot. especially if its much action going on.

I have tried different kinds of solution but non worked. searching alot on the internet for solution and i cant really get it straight. But this is what ive done:

Updated latest video card, which is 296.1 (GeForce GTX 460M).
    And i updated BIOS version.
I recently reinstalled windows to W7 ultimate.
Read about if it was my Realtek sound that messed things up or something so tried uninstall it but that didnt solve it.
    NOTHING WORKED!..
And another problem that also is damn annoying is that when i watch a movie i also get lagspikes/freeze aswell..

Im out of ideas now and need a bit help.. Im starting to think if it some hardwere issue going on but it really dont hope so:/

Any ideas what it can be?

    My computer: Asus G73JW
    CPU: Intel core i5-460, 2.53GHz
    HDD 4GB RAM

DPC Latency can cause that behavior. Have you run DPC Latency Checker?

What Antivirus, AntiMalware, Firewall, Remote Access, or Disk Management software have you installed? Particularly if you installed it a few months ago...

Do you have a Seagate Momentus XT HDD? A firmware issue has been linked to short freezes every few seconds in games and movies.

    Thank you for responding!

I havent run DPC latency checker, but im doing as im writing this and it says:

" Some device drivers on this machine behave bad and will probably cause drop-outs in real-time audio and/or video streams. To isolate the misbehaving driver use Device Manager and disable/re-enable various devices, one at a time. Try network and W-LAN adapters, modems, internal sound devices, USB host controllers, etc." how exactly will i do this? :S guess this is really bad..

Currently using Microsoft Security essentials, I have been using Norton before reinstalling W7. Dont have any antimalwere program installed at the moment, but are you referring to like Spybot search and destroy?

is there any program or something which can aid me looking up all the software you want to know i have?

And no i dont think i have Seagate momentus HDD.

How do i look up the disk management and remote access you want to know?

Please respond! desperate of fixxing this!

Just wonder, how are the temperatures of your CPU and your GPU while running a movie and also while playing a game? HWinfo can help you for those questions.

The site, DPC Latency Checker has a good guide on how to troubleshoot with DPC Latency Checker.

Microsoft Security Essentials is unlikely to be a cause of your issue.

Disk Management software is any 3rd Party utility that will partition, defrag, or check the disk for errors. Go to My PC, GoToMeeting, and pcAnywhere are examples of remote access software that allow you to display your computer's desktop on another computer and control it remotely.

If you expand "Disk drives" in Device Manager, it'll show you the model# of your HDD.

Did you perform a complete reinstallation of Windows (i.e. formatting the HDD and reinstalling all applications) or did you simply upgrade your existing Windows installation to Windows 7 Ultimate?

My G50VT did this. Try cleaning out the cpu and gpu fans with compressed air. You may have to take the bottom panel off to get a better angle.

    HI !

I had the same problem with games freezing for 1-3 secs after like 10 minutes of gaming, then the freezing continued in windows env movies browsing etc.

So after pulling my hair for a month i sent it in for a RMA.
Came back with a new HD and now it works fine :)
