Hey guys, I'm using my G73 as a portible workstation basically and I work in the Unreal Engine for hours and hours on end when I'm on the road. My question is this, can I increase the fan speeds? I want to keep it as cool as possible and while the temps are great (CPU Loaded in Renders - 72-74*C and GPU Loaded In Viewports - 64-68*C) I would like to keep them as low as possible :)

    Thanks in advance!

Those temps are fine, and can be sustained at that for a long time. I wouldn't worry about those temps.

CPU is a bit high for constant load and could probably be improved with a proper repaste, but the GPU is perfectly fine. Some people are getting higher temperatures on GPU idling becouse of Asus poor paste jobs :).

Just to add a little detail to Joker's excellent if terse answer:

The fan speed is controlled by the motherboard. Asus has access to the fan speeds via BIOS updates, but the fan speeds are not accessible to the end user in any fashion that anyone here knows of.

I agree with Chastity that you have very good temps and nothing to worry about. I don't think your work is putting much load on the GPU because it runs a lot hotter than that if you play Metro 2033 or Crysis, etc. I haven't paid as much attention to CPU temps as you have. I know mine is in the 60's when playing games.

Your work is probably pushing your CPU a lot harder than it's pushing the GPU. Also, BIOS 211 increases GPU fan speed somewhat by lowering the thresholds where higher fan speeds kick in. This however, did not reduce temps that anyone here could tell. It did not change the idle or max load temps a single degree.

For reference, my CPU peaks at 63-64C on OCCT (ran it 2 hours, ambient 26C).
