    Any idea why my 1201N CPU WEI dropped to 2.2?

    I don't put much stock in the WEI ratings, in fact I seldom even think about them but I noticed my 1201N netbook was feeling sluggish. So I reran the Windows Experience Index and my CPU (Atom N330 dual core.) dropped from 3.3 to 2.2. Its a slow CPU so losing a 3rd of the processing power is really noticeable. This laptop is definitely running slowly.

    I haven't made any changes recently and it's been running Windows 7 64 bit since I brought it home. I can't think of any hardware or software changes that could have possibly affected the CPU performance. Any suggestions at things I could look at or what other test software I could run?

    Thanks.

    [SOLVED] Just in case anybody is having this problem and located this thread I wanted to post my solution. In my particular case the cause was in MSCONFIG under the Boot tab. I had it set on No-GUI boot and also, under Advanced, had it manually set to use 2 cores while booting. For some reason I don't understand this caused my CPU to constantly run slow in Windows, about half the speed actually. When I returned those settings to Windows default the CPU performance returned to normal. I did some testing and the results are repeatable and predictable. I can't explain why but I'm glad it's been corrected.

    I some more data. I checked on this site;

    PassMark CPU Lookup

    And it says my Passmark score should be in the 635 range.

    I downloaded and ran that benchmark. My CPU passmark score is just 247.

    So I definitely have something askew somewhere. If anybody has any suggestions please let me know.

    It has an SSD in it and I'm using AHCI, I don't think that should matter. It was a BIOS tweek to get that activated. I'm using the desktop ION chipset 64 bit driver, that's common for people to do when running 64 bit Windows. I've tried several different video drivers, they have no effect. I'm running the computer as lean as I can get it with absolutely nothing checked to load at startup in MSCONFIG. Both cores are working at full capacity under load.

    I just don't get it. Maybe my processor failed but I've never heard of that happening.
