Agreed. You may have to do a little work to get it running how you like it, but it's a nice desktop replacement machine. It's the FHD display that really drives up the price, so even though you can get a g73 with a 1600x900 for ~$1100, getting a current model, FHD 17-19 inch laptop with decent graphics will cost you $1000+.

Yeah. If its a good price, go for it.

    Thanks guys(I couldn't find that w90 lounge b4, lol)
I'm either going to get this used W90, or a brand new 18" Acer AS8943G-9429.
I know nothing about Acer build quality, but I already have an ASUS G72 series, & I love it, but want 1920 res, & my ASUS only goes 1620....

Well if you do go for the W90 make sure to update its VBIOS if you ever run into a WSOD (white screen). I think a vbios update fixed that issue, but I never owned one to say for sure. It's definitely a classy machine with a nice aluminum finish, it went for a ton of cash when it was released.

Thanks. One thing that I'm looking at is the SLI/Crossfire set up that it uses.
    I don't know how reliable it is......lol

    Thx again

It works just as good as any crossfire setup. And ACER/gateway build quality is ... garbage? mostly, anyways. Then again, they do make mostly budget notebooks, I don't know how well the nice ones they make are...

I knew Acer was always at the bottom for reliability, & if I'm gonna spend $1400., I don't want garbage. I found that mobile video card ratings chart, & it showed the SLI 4870 in the W90 in the top 5! (For a year old laptop, that's pretty good!) The Acers 5850 was around 40th, I think.(Which is surprising, because it has 2GB Vram)

    Thanks!

Yeah, it's a solid card, the 4870 isn't too far behind the 5870, so if you can get one, and you're okay with a little maintenance (for making sure it's up to date), go for it.

The one I'm looking at supposedly has the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000@2Ghz.

I can't find much info on these. Most W90s seem to have the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T9600 2.8GHz.....

the quads OC well too. Not as high, I bet you'll get 2.6 easy.

Although, if you read up on the 6970m cards, they're getting ~17000 in 3dmark06, where the 5870m gets ~13000, and the crossfire setup in the w90 gets about ~12000. I know 3dmark06 isn't representative of everything, but it seems like getting the latest and greatest may be a huge bump up. Then again, it's probably also double the price, and a year from now they'll both be overshadowed by something hitting ~24000...
