My guess is the solution should be a new kbfilter or even a new BIOS, synaptic drivers just control the touchpad; you can install the HP version and is still under control.

What do you mean there? HP version and is still under control. Does the HP version help? I don't follow. I've tried a lot of generic and Asus touchpad drivers but I never tried any for a different vendor's laptop.

I'm running with the touchpad disabled in BIOS right now because I have run out of things to try. I am pretty sure the touchpad is involved in some way since disabling it solves the issue.
