Its the size fella this is a common misconception and people think it has some kind of better ingredient because they compare it to gold!

Its literally 1.5 grams vs 4.8 grams. 7 vs 24. If you are planning to repaste a CPU and GPU twice then 7 is more than enough.

You only need a minimal amount to get really good temps with ICD I managed to get 6 repastes out of my 7 you dont need 24 unless you are planning a mass repaste orgy.

The only difference in the products is the amount that you get. The IC7 will be plenty for you to install a new CPU.

I told ya about this on the other thread dont bother its not worth it you can overclock more than what that upgrade would do for you.

Go for the XM. Or if you are just wanting to do a repaste then repaste what you already have :D

Repasting my G73 was probably one of the most interesting and fun things I have done with this laptop....Does that make me sad and lonely? :p

I'm getting the ICD 7 from US of A next week and I'm looking forward to repasting my 740qm. I get maximum load temp of 84C for my GPU while playing mafia 2 and bfbc2 maxed out. It also heats up to 77C while playing NFS most wanted maxed out. Is it right? CPU touches around 60C on load (touched 82C once while playing mafia 2 for 4 hours).

If you are using the 5870M those temps are perfectly normal in fact those temps are very good. Are you sure the GPU hasn't already been repasted? You might not get better results by repasting in fact they might go higher.

Anything below 100oC is ok for a 5870M in the G73. Below 90oC is fine.

It's a GTX460M in a G53JW. Is it normal or on the higher side. And yes. It is maxed out in both mafia 2 and bfbc2. I get around 30 to 33fps in mafia 2. Haven't checked out fps in bfbc2.

Those temps are fine honestly. Blow your vents out but as mentioned less than 100oC is acceptable, less than 90oC you dont need to worry.

The G53JW on average runs warmer, so those temps actually aren't bad. The unit I had here would hit the low 90's on Furmark.

So I guess I'll hold off repasting for the future? And I'm getting a NZXT Cryo LX or Zalman NC3000 in December. Which one would you recommend?

I had the NC3000 and its very tidy and super quiet and even tilts upwards so if you want it on a bed or something its perfect for that.

I haven't used the NZXT Cryo but I hear its on par if not better than my Storm for power and the three fans abuse the underside of the laptop better than my two big boys do. Even so with it will come the noise when I put mine on full blast I swear a jumbo jet is taking off nearby.

That noise is okay I guess cuz I always use my headphones while playing or using my laptop. I just want the better of the two, noise and stuff not withstanding.
