hi
I found a great deal on tigerdirect.com and also amazon has it from tigerdirect
It's basically a G73jw-A1 without the second 500GB HDD and the backpack and mouse and all of the rest are the same (I suppose)
it's called G73jw-XT1 and it's only 1500$

I was asking, has anyone got this laptop to tell us their review about it? I am considering it but I'm afraid of the keyboard lag thing and other buggy things
thanks![]()
Another question, any idea bout the Speed of the ram ? it says 1333 but the XA1 model at amazon wrote 1333 and I think it was a typo , because a reviewer stated it's reported speed by crucial memory tester and it was 1066

I have the XT1 and don't have any of the problems you mentioned. The only bug I really have is with the nvidia drivers. The latest drivers don't work for some reason. The RAM on the XT1 is 1333.

Thank you very much for the confirmation about the RAM
how long do you have it ? where did you buy it ?
and , yeah, about the nvidia drivers, try this and tell me if it worked:

So basically you recommend me to buy the XT1 ?

Hey, I recently purchased the G73jw-XT1 from tigerdirect on Nov 13 and it arrived via ups on Nov 18th. I instantly fell in love with it at first sight. The specs were amazing, the design was sexy, and all around the laptop was cool to the touch. The initial load time took longer then I would have liked (~2 minutes), but after the first bootup, windows loaded up faster (~45 secs).
However, the notebook I received came with a rare factory defect that caused the left touchpad button to be nonfunctional. After 2 hours of uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, updating windows, and doing a system recovery (useless since the point at which it would recover was when I first turned it on... which is when i discovered the problem) I called Asus's customer service. The person told me to do everything I already did (which didn't fix anything), so they told me to call tigerdirect to see if I could get a replacement. I promptly did so and am currently returning the notebook (shipping payed for by tigerdirect) for a full refund (would have gotten a replacement but used google checkout so gotta wait to be reimbursed before i purchase it again). They said it would take 2 weeks max for them to inspect the laptop and then get back to me so hopefully everything will work out.
Hopefully my experience with the G73jw does not deter you from purchasing one of your own. If in the unfortunate event that you were to discover any defects in your laptop, tigerdirect and asus have great customer service to either fix the problem, or get you a replacement/refund. -
The deal to specs ratio on the tiger version is hard to beat...it's only missing the 2nd hard drive, which leaves you the option of adding one later (if you want to) and rigging the drive in there. and personally i could care less for a backpack and "wired" mouse
You still get 2yr warranty with tiger, unlike amazon or best buy models. Plus blu-ray.
I've been buying form Tiger for years and they have excellent service/price/shipping with my experiences. -
i agree. the XT1 is hard to beat in the config to price ratio.
i had read some comments about the tiger direct models having inferior displays, but there were no real details or confirmation on that.
the only thing delaying my purchase of a xt1 from them is i'll have to pay tax, which brings it really close to the price of an a1 from xotic...which yields the extra hdd, mouse, and backpack trying to decide if they're worth the extra $60, or if that $60 should go towards a ssd.
Anyone got the G73jw-XT1 ?
