I am trying to keep the temp down on my G73. Is there anything out there that I can buy for less than $50? I am asking here because of the unique cooling system that these machines have.

SF-19 strike force's max fan speed is known to be quite effective for G73's cooling system, just it's super loud. But, you can force the fans in G73 to run at 100% and achieve a better result than using an external fan, won't exceed 65C by forcing the fans to run at 100% if you clean the vents like once a month.

    Check the thread here.

You cleaned out your fans once with some compressed air? (check google on how to do it without breaking your machine)
That usualy helps a lot if the machine was a long time in use already.
Or why do you need to cool it extra?

HWiNFO64 is a great tool for measuring a lot of temps in G73JH =)

I use compressed air about once/month. I just blast the back vents after the machine is turned off.

I want to keep it cooler because it just makes me nervous when i hear my fans going full speed because it has crashed before from playing sc2 with fans going full speed for too long.

Im currently playing tribes ascend on 1080 at the lowest graphics setting and its making my computer fans go on full and i just get nervous.

Oh, also i haven't updated my g73 since I got it shipped to me over 2 years ago. Are there any drivers i should be installing? I haven't done this because i keep hearing of terrible stories that happen to people when they install drivers. Maybe something has changed and they are better now?

thanks, i just used this program to show you guys how my comp runs when playing tribes 2 for about 10 mins on the lowest settings.

It's running at over 100C so i think there might be something seriously wrong here.

edit it is also only using 2.1% of the GPU but its almost overheating? what...

Looks like your thermal paste has degraded or you got one of the G73s affected by a loose screw (only if you got one of the launch models.)

hmmm... Is it an easy mostly risk free fix? or should i take it in somewhere to be fixed?

Edit: I just got The thermal paste redone at pc laptops and now its running at 77C at its most highest point

There are some threads here that show how to disassemble. But if you still have warranty on it and can live a week without it, I would send it in. If you don't have experience with pasting cpu/gpu, then you can make a lot wrong and make it worse.
