Hello everyone , i was thinking to repaste my g73jh as i am getting pretty high temperatures even with the fans running at FULL RPM because i am using DELL'S 5870M with stock clocks !..below are my temperatures:
    i720m stock
    idle:50-55
    load:70-80
    Dell's 5870m
    idle:50:55 running at 300/400
load:90-110 (which is very high i know lol )running at 700/100
Sadly i cannot have IC DIAMOND 7 in my country so i am kind of stucked with only these 2 thermal pastes !
ARCTIC SILVER 5 : of which i heard is easy to paste and remove and perfomance is good too.
Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra: Of which i have searched alot and have found that it is difficult to remove once installed but it outperforms IC Diamond 7 and Arctic Silver 5 too and needs to be pasted with great care as it is kind of conductive to other components on board ...So people ! suggestion please !

I have used a silver compound which worked well but needed repasting after a year. With the icd7 I pasted over two years ago and still working as well as initially. Why not get a tube of icd7 shipped to you?

Otherwise I'd use the silver one, after all, a year is probably enough! I run my Asus 5870 at 825/1000 and stays under 80c at load or furmark. Idle is around 50c. Ambient 20c.

Liquid ultra... I can't use other paste on my [email protected]. All other paste is useless. Learn to use it and you don't need to reapply again. I have used Liquid ultra now over 1.5 year with no increase in temperature. If you don't dare to use it then you should use Ic7 or Gelid extreme.

woah thats great btw i can get the IC Diamond 7 from aliexpress.com but there is only one dealer who is selling that product and for 30USD which i guess is pretty expensive than the arctic silver 5 that i am getting from my country in about 15 usd and with no wait of shipment (less than 3 hours)

You can fine use it on gpu, but be a little careful not to spill.
Cleaned like any other paste on the processor die. You may need to refurbish a little with very fine sandpaper on heasink before a new application, but not necessary if you continue to use Liquid ultra.

the biggest issue is that in my country there is no EBAY or AMAZON :( and secondly i bought a used dell 5870m and fitted it in my asus g73jh all works perfect except the fans are at full rpm ! and my old dead gpu's thermal pad were not that good they mixed up and i made a ball :D and threw it lol ! the used one is also not having thermal pads on it and thats the reason my gpu's mem I/O temp spikes 100+ except the other 2 gpu temps at full load !

So Finally i went for CLU and applied it on my cpu and Gpu and OH GOD !! What a difference ! now the cpu is at 45-50 idle and max 65-68 at full load ! whereas the GPU is idle at 48-50 and under full load it is at 63-64 where as the I/O sensor it at 80-85 max now ! actually i didnt had any thermal pad so i had to use the old ones which were kind of worn out but still i didnt had any other choice ! will buy soon from aliexpress.com but seriously guys CLU is simply awesome !!! :)

Any that look reasonable will do the job, mostly being the right height is the most important thing.

The thermal pads, you want them to be exactly the gap between the chip and heatsink, that is the important factor, getting the right thickness rather than splashing out on fujipoly pads and the like.

Shaving off even 0.5mm can make a big difference.

To be honest the right paste can come down to the heatsink itself, the fit and pressure.

Arctic Silver works well enough and you don't run into as much hassle if you don't want to deal with such later on.
