Anyone used this? I am going to head out and get some compound, and the only stuff the have local is AS5 or AS Ceramique.

Just wanted to see if anyone had good results with it. I tried doing a search, but there were too many pages to read them all to find an answer =)

That is the kind of Thermal past that I use on all of my machines and processors.
I have not used it on my G73 as I did not have to as they did a re paste of all the heat sinks when I had the unit in for repair . I was told that this is what they used also. But I cannot confirm this as I was not standing there when it was done. I just spoke to them by phone as they are but 25 miles from me.
I do now though that my machine is running about 7deg cooler just at idle than it was before the unit was sent in. So I think this would be nothing but a plus for your computer if you did this with this type of paste.

iirc, isn't arctic cermique a sticky glue/TIM, while AS5 is soley a TIM?

The Ceramique That I use is just a standard Thermal Past.
The only thing about is it will take a few days after you use it to
set fully . You will see your temps go down as it sets and then
they will stabilize . But it is good stuff and I have been using it for quite awhile now and I have seen no reason to change.

Yeah, The Diamond compound. To me the difference in cost does not equal the Thermal line drop. Does the Diamond work great? Yep it does. But it is up to the user what they want to use.
But I will say if I am going for a big overclock I will try to use the Diamond if I have it.

woohoo!!!!! its back together and it all still works =) That was the first time I have taken a laptop apart.

The teardown video that was suggested on here was amazing.

as for the results, so far they look great.

GPU Idled at 72 - 74 before the repaste, and is now sitting at 60-62. The real test is going to come with the gaming, but if the drop holds true then I am going to be very happy!!!

Oh and on a side note it seems that taking the keyboard off has had the added benefit of making the keys more springy, they just feel firmer.

Yeah, it does take awhile to setup. But it works great while it is setting up.

Blah blah blah....enjoy your bragging :p

My Arctic Silver 5 application worked just fine 10 minutes into the cure time. Even better now hundreds of hours later!
