Does the G73JH not have a dual layer disc drive?![]()
My disc won't read...
I put it in and it just whirs and repeats for a few moments and the computer doesn't even read a disc inside the drive.

it reads , I installed call of duty mw3 without anyprobs , and it was a dual layer disc , even my 7 years old toshiba laptop reads that mw3 dual layer disc.

Is there a firmware update for the DVD drive for the asus g73jh? Seems a lot of other individuals updated their DVD drive firmware and fixed the issue. I can't seem to find any update yet.

Here's the link to the firmware page (it's in the sticky), if your drive isn't listed here, there isn't an update for it:

Could be the lens is dirty or the drive is on it's way out as well.

Thanks, I didn't find an update

XEFS NKXYZ812B SCSI CdRom Device
Those are the two showing in device manager if this helps in solving this issue. ._.
Edit: It's reading my other discs just fine though. Maybe it's just the disc -

Edit:
Sorry, but it's asking me if I want to:
Do you want to start F/W reflash?
From what I remember, flashing the bios was risky. Any risks involved with this flash or what am I reflashing exactly?
Edit 2:
nvm im stupid too. firmware of course xD
yay it reads!
