the title says it. please include it here if you have experience on both of them. thank you.

ICD7 is the better one but I've found that AS5 is much much more common, plus it's not half bad. I used AS5 on my old laptop and temps improved quite a bit.
-
Used both, prefer ICD7.

ICD 7 always.

I would recommend either Arctic Cooling MX-4, OZC Extreme Freeze, Innovation Cooling ICD7, or LiquidPro. All 4 of these are within .5-1C of each other depending on if you applied it properly according to directions.
If your heatsink isn't lapped well or if it's not completely flat like stock heatsinks from laptop manufacturers may be, thicker TIM are recommended. ICD7 is very thick, so it's good here; it spreads well and fills in those gaps. I suspect this is why ICD7 is so effective with laptops. It's not that ICD7 is better than MX-4, OCZ Freeze, it's just the heatsinks are of poorer quality in laptops. ICD7 is recommended for this reason for laptops.
In aftermarket heatsink kits with mirror finished, perfectly flat, OCZ Freeze and MX-4 will do just as well, if not better than ICD7. -

Haven't tried AS5 but ICD7 has worked perfectly for me

I've been looking for ICD7 in France... so far no dice.
It looks like MX-3 which I have already... anyone used it? -
For everyone, bear in mind that ICD7 can be quite hard to remove. -
I can't find it off ebay. "innovative cooling diamond 7" gives 0 hits and so does ICD7, but no worries, I'll use something else.
-
See if you can find either Shin Etsu G751 or Shin Etsu X23. They'll do a better job anyway. -
Depends on the cost. Both are good, though ICD7 tends to get a degree or two more than AS5 on average. If prices are similar, go for ICD7, else stick with the tried and true AS5.
-
ICD7.. best stuff there is
-
-
Something you should also know about ICD - the diamond dust thats in it can scratch the surface its used on when you want to clean it off.
-
"IC Diamond" lists plenty of hits on ebay.

What is the top of the line thermal paste, anyway? I thought Arctic Silver was the most effective but see a lot of ICD 7 options on the various boutique sites I visit.

From the results posted here, ICD7 is much more effective on the G73JH than AS is.
I used AS5 because I had some. Works great, but I run ~10C higher than many of the ICD7 results posted. I'm much more concerned with the temp curve over time than bragging about temps. As long as it flatlines in the 90s doing hours of FurMark extreme burn then I'm fine with that -
I've found IC7 to be pretty much dummy proof for installing. AS5 can provide good results, but if not applied properly it can require repasting. IC7 on the other hand is very easy to apply.

Arctic Cooling MX-3

ICD7 is Blonde-Tested and Approved.

hey tuniq tx2 is gppd
tuniq tx4 is the bes tif you are willing to shell out as icd7 -
Both are good, you wont go wrong with either.
Get what ever is easier to find and cheaper. As long as its applied correctly, the temp difference will be marginal.
Shin Etsu is also good but harder to get. Intel actually uses it for testing and benchmarking purposes.
Artic silver 5 or IC diamond 7?
