Howdy everyone. Just recently came to the forums, and it seems alot better then the one over at Asus site :)
Go easy on the new guy incase I mess up, awright?

Anyways, I'm looking for some info about the Asus G51J 3D model.
I've had it for abit over a year now, and all of sudden the audio jack broke/got stuff (found out from here that it's a pretty common problem with the model).
Now, shortly afterwards the comp just froze shortly after booting windows. Also after it froze, it started heating up very fast. I tried cleaning it, though without success. Now, since I still had warrantry, I sent it over to AsusTek for repairs. However, the same thing had happened to my younger bro with the same model just a couple of month's prior to me.

Results: My comp has been sent over for further studies about what's wrong, my bro's been offered a new one of the same model.

What I'd like to know again:

Is it worth taking a new one of the same model? How common is it that the comp has faults like this?
Is the G51J still well sold out in the world, or has it's production stopped?

The G51J/Jx has been discontinued since around the time of the G53 release this past fall.

The stuck headphone jack is a problem across models, it's not specific to the G51 alone.

Whether taking a different unit from Asus as a replacement is a good idea will depend on what kind of problems yours has. You will most likely get a refurbished unit that is almost as good as new, but occasionally people talk about getting brand new replacement units. It also depends on how long the wait would be for replacing any parts, versus taking a unit that's ready to go.
