I hear alot about the asus being a good brand for gaming laptops, but hey EVERY brand sas there brand is the best. What I am looking for is a laptop that won't have a rep for overheating issues. I have heard stories about HP being known for laptops with major overheating issues, as well as the Dell XPS and Alienware. I've been doing research and found that Msi and Asus seem to be really good at what they do in the aspect of gaming. So my question is does the Asus laptops have any rep for overheating or hardware malfunctions that would make a person rip their hair off?

We may not be the best but we are pretty fantastic.

    + Good Price vs Power
    + Mid-High performance
    + Reliable mostly
    + Very good looking

    - Can quickly become mid ranged
    - Modding is limited due to reverse MXM
    - GPU is always the bottleneck
    - RMA can be likely with some due to poor paste application (can be self fixed)

Personally my model is the best gaming laptop I have had yet and I cannot see another atm that will replace it.

The Alienware M15x/M17x/M18x, Asus G73/G74, Any high end Sager are your best bets for a good gaming laptop IMO. The G series is typically cheaper but they seem to getting pricier but they are good laptops. Personally, if you're looking for something that will plow through everything and looks cool(If you're into the Alienware look), get an Alienware. They're pricey but powerful, a similar Sager shouldn't be too far off. Get a G73/G74 if you're looking for something on the less pricey side but with great performance. Also in terms of reliability, you shouldn't have a problem with any of them.

i will suggest you G73SW. sound and lcD screen is really impressive than G73JH RBBX05, trust me i try it for 1month. cos when my G73SW is serviced, they give me G73JH RBBX as replacement. and i saw really huge difference quality in screen contrast(black is rendered a lil bit gray, and sound quality is not to "wow" than G73SW). and when my G73SW back, its like day and night, im in love with screen quality and sound quality is more clarity. HUGE difference

for GPUtoGPU power comparison of course G73JH owns G73SW (for about 10-15%). BUT G73SW comes with 2nd generation i7 (sandy bridge). this i7-2630qm is more powerfull than first generation i7-940xm! (if u not overclock it). this CPU power really boost gtx 460m in SW

with this superior CPU power you can have par/on top of 5870m in G73JH in many games that using GPU/CPU power. and with games that needs CPU power u will own G73Jh (gta 4, starcraft 2,etc). but of course if games is more GPU demanding, and little use of cpu like crysis, 5870m will own 10-20% more fps. it really depend on games ( did they use more GPU?CPU? or they use both equally )

except you got Gtx 560m which is on par with 5870m ( or i can say 5870m still win 2% :p ) and of course this G74SX will own G73JH, no doubt bcs of CPU power and equally powerfull gpu with 5870m( the only question, is Gtx 560m can handle much overclock? )

SAGER with ati 6970/gtx485m is really good choice, i think.

    2 things:

    1) I AM BEGGING YOU, FOR YOUR OWN GOOD NOT TO BUY A DELL XPS!!!! I HAVE THE 1530, AND THE FAN IS ABOUT 90 DEGREES CELSIUS! ALSO, THE HEATING PROBLEMS HAVE WEAKENED THE GLUE WHICH HOLDS EVERYTHING TOGETHER! IT IS NOW BEING HELD TOGETHER IN SOME PLACES BY DUCT TAPE!!! AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!

    2) the cooling on it is spectacular, though I'd recommend getting the g74sx. It has literally just been received by vendors today, and comes with a GTX560m graphics card, and arguably the most powerful cooling system on a laptop to date. I'm buying one in the upcoming week, and I'd highly recommend for you to do the same, or else you might end up like I did...
