My Asus G2s is faulty, after 2,5 years stopped working. The black screen problem ( motherboard problem, faulty vga ) appeared and my warranty is ended.. What can i do? I spent 2500 euro to buy it in Greece and now is dead!!

If your unit was defective, why didn't you get it taken care of under warranty? A product doesn't become defective after 2 years of use.

I don't think there's much you can do. Contact Asus and see if there's anything they can do. Maybe have it repaired or get a new computer.

Believe when Asus sold the G2, the warranty was 3 years.

Check the Asus site and see what your warranty status is.

My warranty is off. Now the problem appeared, its not my fault. I sent it one time because it had a screen problem, 1 year ago.

Yeah don't worry, keep pestering customer service. There is a thread somewhere here with G1 users who's GPU failed after warranty and they got replacements to newer models for free.

Your GPU problem is their fault, they know it. Don't give up hope.

The most accurate answer could be given by the ASUS repair centers. Why don't you give them a call and discuss your options? They will tell you whether they could replace it for free since it is a known issue or whether you should pay everything out of your pocket.

If your from the USA they was giving refurbished laptops, & if your from euro then you would have to pay for the fix i.e new motherboard.
I know this because it Happened to me, I was lucky or unlucky because it happened in my 2 years warranty & I got a new motherboard so my G2S is on borrowed time. Every one else had to pay for the motherboard which cost £400 plus. & it still has the defective 8600mgt!

Petition your government to conquer all Mediterranean countries and start a 2nd Greek empire. Then you will easily be able to send your computer to the repair facility in Italy. Not only that, but taking self-government out of the hands of the Italians would be an improvement, I assure you.

    Hi,
There is a similar thread on this issue but i wasn't able to reply so i decided to make a new thread.

The problem occurred very sudden. one morning was doing fine then at night it decided not to display anything. turned on the computer and you can hear the asus greeting sound and hard drive is starting, window login sound, logon greeting sound after sign in. but no light in display, pitch black. Some people say its the 8600m GT GPU problem, other say its the MOBO..

The strange thing is that most of the people are having the same thing around the same time (3years). Called the asus, and they are not going to investigate. simply ignore a laptop that was one of the top of the line product. very dissapointed. thought ASUS was a reliable brand.

Weren't the g2s the ones with nvidia problems? NVIDIA problems? If you didn't get it taken care of under warranty, then shame on you for not doing your research. It sucks, sure. But if it lasted for 6 years, and you got 6 years use out of it, should you *still* be able to get a brand new replacement because the gpu could fail?

Can we sent it back to Italy and get a new one in reduced price? Is it true?
