Sorry if I wrote this in the wrong spot I'm brand new to forums ironically. The problem I'm trying to figure out is with my asus g37jh gaming Notebook. I bought it used off e-bay (that might be the explanation o the problem right there but for now I want some input) and its a 2011 model. only after having it in my possession for about a month, it suddenly shut off on its own at complete random. I tried pressing the power button on it and the blue LED lights on the keyboard would light up but then nothing else. the screen would stay black and it wouldn't even turn on. once that happened i couldn't turn the computer off by holding down on the power button or anything. I had to take out the battery, unplug the ac adapter, put them back in and turn it back. it would just repeat the process of shutting down on its own. Eventually it just got stuck in a booting loop where the asus logo comes up, then windows, then it would just loop back to the asus logo and so forth. Eventually I gave in and brought it to a local computer shop where they did hardcore diagnostic tests on the computer. But they said they couldn't find anything wrong with the computer. Weirdly enough, they also mentioned that the computer would not show any signs of powering down when they had it at the shop with them. Apparently it ran perfectly. So i returned to the store and picked up my laptop thinking the problem might have been resolved. But the second i got back home and turned on y laptop, it just did the exact thing i brought it to the store to get fixed. It powered down on its own once again. I brought it back to the store and told them what had happened and they said they'd hold onto the computer to see if they could figure it out. They couldn't figure it out, and one again mentioned there was zero problems with it when it was in their possession, they even kept the laptop on for 12 hours straight and it didn't power off on its own. I brought it back once again and as expected, when i tried to get it going, it would power down on its own. It did this numerous times. I have yet to call back to the store and share with them the results. Even the computer nerds at the computer store are aggravated and want to figure out what the problem is but we can't find the problem. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
Ill list the unusual behavior in sequence of events:
-powered down on its own at random a month into having the laptop (got the laptop around october 29th)
-Tried turning it on (with both battery and ac adapter, just ac adapter, and jsut battery) same thing would happen.
-After shutting down on its own the computer would not boot up when i tried to turn it back on right after it shut down on its own and instead only the blue led lights would turn on
and the screen would just be black without the backlight to illuminate the screen turning on
-would unplug power sources, replug them boot the computer but then would get stuck at booting process and loop.
-did a system restore, computer was able to boot and get into my user profile but then shut dow on its own again
-brought it to computer cafe, they had no problems with it at all and they had it for 2 weeks. No shuting down, No boot loop, nothing. Diagnostics checked out 100% ok.
-when i brought it back home, the problem reestablished itself on my computer the first time i turned it on since getting it back.
-only thing that was resolved was now it will turn on and boot fine even after it shuts down randomly
-brought it back to the computer cafe and they took it for another 2 days, (again said no problems persisted)
-bring it back today and the problem happens again.
Im incredibly frustrated and really need someone to be my hero and maybe pinpoint the exact problem. Please and thank you !![]()

Quick summary: your computer works fine when you take it to a repair shop but once you take it home it randomly shuts down and quite often?
Also did you mean to type the model as G73JH not G37JH?
If its a G73JH that model was released about 4yrs ago, I assume you bought it from someone and not brand new right? Random shut downs are normally caused by a thermal protection. A computer 3-4yrs old could have quite a bit of dust built up inside of it. Have you checked that fans and vents to make sure there is dust causing the thermal protection. Maybe their ship is just cool enough it doenst happen there but once you get home its warm enough to cause the protection to kick in. If you're comfortable doing so, open up the main bottom panel and check for and clean out any dust. If it exists use a can of compressed air. -
Sorry you are correct about it being the G73JH, it is a 2011 model. And yes, oddly enough, the computer technicians haven't had a single problem with it but everytime i take it home I swear it shuts down on its own.

I would check your house electrics and sockets. If it works in other locations I would doubt the system is at fault.
