Ok, quite a long story but here goes. A few months back my kids spilled water on my laptop while it was running. It killed the motherboard. I purchased a new motherboard and it arrived today. I popped it in and started putting it back together. Now, when i turn on the laptop i get no display on the LCD. If i plug into an external monitor it works perfectly. I found a similar post here "http://forum.notebookreview.com/register.php?a=act&u=468716&i=93429180". My trouble is slightly different in that i see nothing on the screen even with a flashlight. I tried a few of their reccomendations. reseating the connections etc. There is also a guide that shows you how to check the inverter with a multimeter. I'm seeing 3 volts on pin 1 of the inverter. However, When i did this the first time, the screen actually turned on and probably would have stayed on had i not restarted the laptop.... I'm not sure if i grounded something on the inverter that turned on the screen but it was up. I left it on for about 30 minuets but the orientation was a little screwy. I could only see about 90% of the screen. Sorta like it was zoomed in. I restarted the laptop but the screen did not come back up with it. I have not been able to replicate what i did to get the display to come on, but when i probe that number 1 pin on the inverter the screen will occasionally blink white and then go off. I've also tried replaced the inverter and cable and get the same results. I'm not sure what the heck is going on here. Any input would be great. I'm tempted to buy a new LCD, but being that the LCD came on and stayed on for 30 minuets, i dont think that is the issue. I see 2 ground wires on either side of the lcd. I've checked both of them and they seem to be ok. The one on the left side of the laptop has a screw missing but i've held it down on the metal casing and still get nothgin. HELP!

EDIT: SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!! I found it what it was. There was a bent pin where the LCD connects to the mainboard. Bent it back into place and it fired right up.

If your LVDS connector is the (potential) problem your backlight will light up but you will get nothing on the screen. Using an external display will work.

Pop off the left hinge cover. No further disassembly is required. Page 11-12 of http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...8551-asus-g50-notebook-disassembly-guide.html

Be extremely careful, pins on the internal connectors of laptops are beyond fragile. Try pressing down on the connector to see if it is just loose. Unless your laptop has been taken apart before it is unlikely that a pin is bent (it doesn't tend to happen any other way).
