    Well guys,

I just recently pulled out my old G50VT-X1 from the closet that had crashed a number of years ago and decided I was determined to get this thing up and running, Bought a new hard drive and found my old system restore disks and got it up and running, no issues there.

This issue I'm currently having is it seems that the fan is kicking on more often that necessary and when I begin to game the laptop itself gets too hot to touch and it sounds like the fan and disk are working overtime? I updated all drivers for the software and have minimal background applications running while gaming. I'm afraid to continue gaming with it getting this hot because I don't want to fry the processor or motherboard.. I'm not exactly the most tech savvy when it comes to these things, and I'm slowly teaching myself more and more about it. My question to you guys is do you think this could have to do with the fan? It has been in a closet for close to 4 years just sitting so dust without a doubt settled and getting in the way. I'm going to run into work and blow it out and clean it the best I can but are there any other ideas of what could be going on with it? I would be happy to provide any other information you guys would like to help me solve this issue.. I've read on a few different websites that it could need to have new thermal coatings put on to help expel some of the heat but I don't quite trust myself to do that.

I owned a few of those. Loved them. They had thermal paste issues. Go to a local best buy and buy the best paste they have or if you can wait get it from Newegg and repaste. You should see a pretty drastic difference.
