Hi everyone,
I own a G50VT and a Panasonic Plasma 42" TH-P42S10S. I tried many ways to connect the laptop to TV via HDMI but still fail. The TV still black as no singal. I really need your help if you have any experience with this issue. Here are what I tried:
-I started with Win7 and latest driver, connect HDMI cable to TV and change to correct channel, then plug HDMI cable to laptop. It cannot detect so I need to restart laptop. Then I setting TV to external display. The Nvida control panel detect correct TV(as it display the TV manufactor name) but nothing happened. I also tried three ports available on TV. With laptop, in resolution setting, I tried every resolution for external display.
I restored my laptop to Vista using recover disk. This time it is better that I do not need to restart my laptop each time try to connect to TV. But still, I need to open up Device Manager and scan for new hardware. I also try three ports on TV and every possible resolution. It's still not work.
To make sure the laptop still fine, I tried to connect it to a Sony 32" LCD TV. This time the External display worked, the TV display fine (without sound).
To make sure the TV still work with HDMI, I tried to connect it with a HD player. And the TV display great.
To not give up, I bring my laptop to my friend house and test with his Panasonic 42". Tried many port or solution, his TV still black while it still work with his lap top
I'm totally confuses with this issue. And the summary for test are:
- The laptop still work with a Sony 32" LCD TV
- The TV still work with HDMI port.
- Tried all HDMI ports in TV
- Tried to set all available resolutions for display.
I do not know what to do next. And now I also have some unsolve questions. Please help me if you know it:
1. Does the asus g50vt need any special HDMI cable(to compatible)?
2. Any setting need to set for the Panasonic?
3. Anyway to make asus G50VT detect external like plug&play?
4. What is the problem with sound of G50VT via HDMI(I tried some way found in forums but that does not help when connect with my Sony TV)?
5. Do I missing anything(step)?
I do not know if anyone have exactly the same issue with G50VT and Panasonic Plasma 42" TV, but if you have any experience, comment or suggestion, please share it to me. Any common comment is welcome.
Thank you so much!

Updated! I tried connect via AGP port and the laptop and my TV working fine. But I still try to make it work with hdmi. Anyone have experience about the Asus G50VT-X5 or Panasonic Plasma TH-P42S10S and the hdmi connect issue between two devices please help me! I'm out of ideal to deal with this issue.
