Hello forum. Im really close to buying a laptop. Truth is I am close to buying a Dell XPS 15. Here is what I am looking for.
i5 intel, not the i7 for battery life.
    blu ray player
    backlit keyboard
    ram upgradable to 8gb.
HDD at 7200rpm. size does not matter.
    internal bluetooth.
    9cell battery.
    at least 1gb of memory.

What I am on the fence is the screen between the 720p vs the 1080p. I am leaning towards the dell because I can buy directly from the site and customize my computer, where I cant buy from the ASUS site and have to hunt and hunt for what I want for the G51.
Would you buy the Asus again, or would you go for the XPS.
3d is a nice feature to have. I know the XPS is 3d ready only if you connect to a 3dTV, would I have to do the same thing with the G51? Or is the screen 3d Ready?

They're both 3d over HDMI only. And even then, I'm not sure that they both support that.

Anyways, you're going to get terrible battery life from either. The XPS will look nicer, the G51 will be cheaper. They will both get REALLY hot. Depending on the model of XPS, you'll have problems with power draw which will cause BSODs. Depending on the model of the g51, you'll have power draw problems, which will cause throttling problems.
